NCIS Season 13 to Kick Off with Drama Right from the Start!

“NCIS” has always done a great job balancing lighthearted fun with serious dramatic moments, and the show has managed to stay on air for quite a long time because of its unique, appealing formula. And now, when it returns for its thirteenth season, it will apparently start with some tense drama right from the very beginning, and there might be some more conflicts between various characters during this season than what we’re used to.

Gibbs will significantly change in personality, according to reports, and his new self might not be all too enjoyable for the show’s fans, from what we can tell. The change will come from the fact that he got shot in the finale of the last season, and this will cause him to undergo some significant internal transformations that will result in seeing him as a completely new person.

The show’s new season will actually open with a scene related to the incident, showing Gibbs being rushed away for emergency surgery. Gibbs will then change both physically and mentally, and viewers might not even recognize the character from his behavior once he starts being more involved in the new season.

Some have been happy to hear about the change, others – not so much. It’s pretty obvious that it will not be a happy development and it’s not surprising to hear that Gibbs will ultimately enter a deep conflict with another character, namely DiNozzo. Their relationship will be significantly strained, according to reports, and the tension will grow even stronger as the season progresses.

Gibbs will apparently feel negatively towards DiNozzo, feeling like he has had his position stolen from him, however DiNozzo is practically forced to take the position and doesn’t seem to have much of a say in that decision. This, combined with the talks about Gibbs’ new attitude to life, seems to imply that we’re going to see a very different version of the character that might even become a negative presence on the show.

Which would indeed be sad if it turns out to be true, because Gibbs is one of the most liked characters by some fans and it would be quite disappointing to see the writers turning him into a shell of his former self, even worse if he becomes someone who constantly antagonizes his team. That’s not guaranteed to happen, of course, but there is a pretty strong indication in that direction.

DiNozzo himself will be going through some difficult moments in his head as well, trying to figure out if he really wants to “become the new Gibbs” or not, and this is something that will have a serious impact on his own life. It was obvious that the incident with Gibbs was going to affect everyone around him, but it was hard to imagine that things would escalate that much and that we would be seeing such dramatic conflicts and tension among the show’s characters. This all hints towards a much darker season, too.

And that’s not so surprising, considering that the show has been inching towards a more somber, tense style throughout its seasons, and its fans have been noticing that as well, commenting that some episodes have gotten a bit too dramatic for their tastes. While there was some hope in the community that season 13 would be a bit more relaxed and ease up on the drama a little, it looks like we’re moving in the exact opposite direction.
