NCIS Season 13 Likely to See Leroy Jethro Gibbs Escaping Death and Living to Fight Another Day, More Information

The series finale of Season 12 of the American police procedural drama TV series “NCIS” on CBS ended in a major cliffhanger when main character Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the leader of the NCIS, played by actor Mark Harmon, was seen shot twice by the young Luke Harris.

NCIS Supervisory Special Agent Gibbs along with Senior Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo, played by Michael Weatherly, and CIA Officer Joanna ‘Dorneget’s Mom’ Teague, tracked Luke to Zakho, Iraq where he was being held under the protection of the kid-targeting terrorist group known as The Calling, details TV Line.

Gibbs eventually split from the two to follow a suspicious girl through the marketplace. The girl gave him the slip and Gibbs was left out in the open. Subsequently, Luke shot the NCIS leader twice – first on the leg and then in the chest – before leaving him to die as the show draws to a close with that biggest cliffhanger ever.

Of course, every fan of the show is optimistic that Gibbs will survive the near-death ordeal and live to fight another day.

After all, there have been no reports thus far stating that Mark Harmon did not renew his contract with the show for Season 13 so it is likely that he will continue to take on his Gibbs role for the 13th straight season.

Cleaning up the mess

“NCIS” Season 13 will clean up the mess and will most likely see Gibbs recovering from the near-death debacle because Mark Harmon is reportedly signed for the entire 13th season of the show.

Show boss Gary Glasberg says that the premiere of the “NCIS” Season 13 will pick up right where the Season 12 finale left of when the show is aired back on the CBS network on September 22.

According to Cartermatt, filming for Season 13 of “NCIS” has begun even as the production crew are all keeping mum on most of the details of the show. The outlet cited however that having the show without Mark Harmon would make it really awkward so it is likewise optimistic that Gibbs will survive and will surely get his payback from Luke.

Despite being generally under wraps for now, critics and analysts believe that more details will be revealed about the show as the airing of Season 13 draws near. It is also expected that Season 13 will also have 24 episodes, which has become the norm for the show since its seventh season.

A fictional team of special agents

NCIS is short for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), a fictional team of special agents conducting criminal investigations involving the US Navy and Marine Corps.

The show was originally referred to as the Navy NCIS during its first season but the ‘Navy’ was later removed from the title. By the time the show got into its sixth season, a two-part episode resulted to the birth of a spin-off series called “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

Five years later, in Season 11, another two-part episode led to the birth of the second spin-off series titled “NCIS: New Orleans.”

NCIS was voted as America’s most favorite TV show in 2011. The show wrapped up its Season 10 as the most-watched TV series in the US during the 2012-13 TV season.

The TV series follows the fictional team of the NCIS Major Case Response Team (MCRT) special agents based at the Washington D.C. field office in Washington Navy Yard, at Washington D.C.
