The MyCareer mode of the basketball simulation video game “NBA 2K16” was developed by critically-acclaimed director Spike Lee but the output did not suit well for the gamers when it came out last year.
Having learned its lesson, the developer decided to tweak the mode and reports have it that it is going to be more interesting in the upcoming “NBA 2K17” when it officially comes out on the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 3, the Xbox One, the Xbox 360, and the PC on September 20.
Game developer 2K Games has announced through a press release that actor Michael B. Jordan, who starred in big movies like “Creed” and “Fantastic Four,” will be taking on the role of Justice Young in the MyCareer mode of “NBA 2K17.”
Young is going to be a rising NBA star who shall team up with the player’s character and it shall feature enhanced player creation, provide authentic endorsement system, feature interactive text message conversations, and a new off-court AI system, notes the PlayStation Lifestyle.
Improving player renders on ‘NBA 2K17’
Those who are able to test-play “NBA 2K17” have noted that the game has redone a lot of player renders to make them really look like their real-life counterparts.
Boston Celtics’ Marcus Smart and the Cleveland Cavalier’s Iman Shumpert have been rescanned, for instance, with their new hairstyles.
Players who have graphics in their hair looked especially sharp, particularly the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns.
Incidentally, tattoos became an issue for 2K Games after a lawsuit from an artist whose work was featured on the bodies of several prominent NBA players. But it seems that 2K Games managed to get things in order as the virtual players in “NBA 2K17” still have ink on their respective bodies.
There were some complaints about how bulky some of the players looked in some of the recently released renders. But when a gamer sees how all of the players look on the court collectively, the actions look great and the various body structures mesh well and are proportioned, notes Forbes.
Incidentally, even some of the players of classic teams have been redone in “NBA 2K17” including Steve Kerr and Dennis Rodman of the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls.
Unfortunately, there have been no new classic teams included in “NBA 2K17” and it is possible that 2K was not able to come to an agreement with key players from certain teams as the likely culprit for it.
Paul George on the cover
Out with the old and in with the new as “NBA 2K17” shall be hitting the gaming consoles in less than two weeks time and pre-order has been made available to fans.
The release of a full gameplay trailer last month by developer 2K Games follows the announcement that the next installment of the game shall have Indiana Pacers superstar Paul George for its cover.
George had a sterling season last year after coming back from an injury. He even took the Pacers to an Eastern Conference playoff berth only to lose to the Toronto Raptors in the first round.
On August 15, the first screenshot of the game was released with the focus on its cover superstar Paul George.
Fans and gamers were quick to notice the difference in skin tone between the “NBA 2K16” and the “NBA 2K17” and the latter is far more life-like. The texture of Paul George’s hair and tattoo are more evident in “NBA 2K17” than in the predecessor game.
The Indiana Pacers superstar also looks to be a little bulkier in “NBA 2K17” than he was in “NBA 2K16.”
The screenshot of Paul George for “NBA 2K17” is part of the promotions being orchestrated by 2K Games starting last month. The developer released new screenshots of the game every day for a couple of weeks on its official Instagram account. Along with the screenshots were more details and new gameplay features of “NBA 2K17.”
Apart from the excitement and anticipation being generated by “NBA 2K17,” players are also excited to know if their favorite NBA stars will get an upgrade in their ratings in the upcoming video game.
