“NBA 2K15” just got another major update, and while this one didn’t introduce any new content, it more than made up for that with the number of bug fixes and gameplay improvements that it brought to the table. The game has been made more stable overall, and it should now be a more consistent experience for all players, resolving some of the most common problems that players have been reporting over the last few weeks.
For example, there was a frequently occurring problem when a player opened the Team Select screen during an online match and then minimized the game. Previously, this would cause the match to disconnect, but this is no longer the case. At the same time, player ratings should now progress more smoothly, although the game is reportedly still being tweaked in this regard.
Users have been reporting an inability to join certain Online Leagues, and this was also addressed in the last update. It’s not known if the problem has been fully resolved or not, as it will take some time before the effects are noticeable, but hopefully players will no longer run into this problem in the future.
The core game has been improved as well, and the patch didn’t just fix bugs on the backend. When a player is driving near defenders, they will no longer play the “auto-hesitation” animation during their dribble, while the transition from a sprint to jog has been made more natural as well.
Open and covered shots should now be noticeably different from one another, described through their shot percentages – this was made more clear in this update and should remove any confusion over how the gameplay mechanic works.
Last but not least, the patch also addresses issues with the ranking system, where players weren’t able to see certain badges in their correct colors. Some players also reported seeing the game’s title getting stuck after the intro screen, which should no longer happen either.
And to top it all off, the update is backwards compatible! This means that any savegames carried over from the previous version should work just fine after the game has been updated, so players won’t have to lose their hard-earned progress in their campaigns. There were some worries in the game’s community that this update will force players to restart, and while some were happy to do that as long as they got their bugfixes, others didn’t share the sentiment. Thankfully, everyone should be happy with this situation, and nobody will have to restart their progress unless they want to. Of course, there might be another update in the future that changes the situation, but the developers will probably give an advance warning if they’re about to do that.
