When the basketball simulation video game “NBA 2K15” was released by game developer Visual Concepts on October 7, 2014, it had Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant for its cover.
Apparently, the game rode on the coat-tails of the great play of Kevin Durant during the 2013-14 NBA season that prompted Visual Concepts to use him as cover for “NBA 2K15.”
The 2013-14 NBA season was actually the fourth year in a row when Kevin Durant made an impressive run as an NBA player, even reaching the Finals during the 2011-12 season only to see his Thunder lose in six games to eventual champion Miami Heat.
While he made it to the cover of “NBA 2K15” for the 2014-15 NBA regular season, Kevin Durant had a miserable year as he was mostly in the sidelines recuperating from an injury.
It was only during the summer of last year that he started to be well again. In fact, because of his return to the Oklahoma City Thunder lineup, the team immediately became a top contender for the playoffs.
As of the close of 2015, the Thunder is on a three-game winning roll and totes a 23-10 win-loss record, and good for the third spot in the Western Conference next only to the league-leading Golden State Warriors and the perennial powerhouse San Antonio Spurs.
The Thunder’s latest victory came over the young and upstart Milwaukee Bucks, winning 131-123 on their home floor as Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook led the team yet again in the romp, details the New York Times.
Getting gamers to play again
Incidentally, the resurgent gameplay of Kevin Durant has prompted many gamers of “NBA 2K15” to play the game again amid the availability of “NBA 2K16,” which is a tribute to the ability of KD to bounce back.
While there is obviously no direct connection between “NBA 2K15” to the level of play of Kevin Durant these days, it is actually more of a psychological thing for gamers of the basketball simulation video game.
And both Visual Concepts and 2K Sports are just too happy that they still continue to get good patronage for their previous basketball simulation video game.
As a matter of fact, a little over one month after the release of “NBA 2K16” to the gaming consoles and the PC, 2K Sports has released new cheats and locker codes to “NBA 2K16” for the month of November 2015.
The new cheats and locker codes enabled players to earn Virtual Currency points and other bonus items, notes the Franchise Herald.
There was also a way to build skill points faster by using three-point specialist because a player will be able to get the most of SP from three-point field goals.
In addition, the locker codes can also be used to earn instant 5,000 VC points in “NBA 2K15.” The player can likewise upgrade his MyCareer mode by typing in the cheat codes to enable him to get random shoe rewards. Gamers can also earn an all-star merchandise if they use the cheat code ‘ALLSTARMVP.’
Taking the fun out of the mode
Meanwhile, gamers and critics alike have taken potshots on the MyCareer mode of the latest basketball simulation video game, the “NBA 2K16,” when it officially rolled out to the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 3, the Xbox One, the Xbox 360 and the PC on September 29.
Many are saying that Spike Lee’s approach on the MyCareer mode of “NBA 2K16” which he titled as “Livin’ Da Dream” has taken the fun out of having a playable character going through all kinds of stuff to either become a superstar NBA player or simply fade out in oblivion.
Instead of the free-flow narrative and cut-scenes, Lee has boxed everything in “Livin’ Da Dream” so gamers have no choice but to go through with the boxed-in approach through the designated playable character known as Frequency Vibration or Freq for short.
