‘Nashville’ Season 5 to See Rayna Making a Journey of Discovery After Juliette’s Plane Crash

It looks like cable network CMT can no longer contain its own excitement for the airing of the fifth season of the American musical drama TV series “Nashville” soon.

Apparently, CMT is also feeling the excitement of the fans for “Nashville” that from a previous announcement that Season 5 of “Nashville” will debut on January 5, 2017, the network has fast-tracked the show’s timeline.

The first hour of the two-hour premiere episode of “Nashville” Season 5 shall be airing on CMT on December 15 already while the second hour will happen on January 5 next year.

The release of several teaser trailers for “Nashville” Season 5 got the throngs of fans of the TV series surely excited that they might have pushed the cable network for an early airing date.

CMT obliged without really disrupting the schedule of “Nashville” for 2017 as the TV series shall still air beginning on January 5 but with the second hour of its Season 5 premiere episode.

Trouble for the show’s favorite couple

There was a full Season 5 trailer that was released by CMT on December 1 but another promo video was released the following day, reports the International Business Times.

Based on the latest trailer of “Nashville,” it looks like Season 5 shall see a possible trouble in the relationship of Deacon, played by Charles Esten, and Rayna, played by Connie Britton.

In the video, the country superstar looks sad before she turns away from her husband and it seems that the two were fighting.

Deacon looks confused as he wakes up in bed alone, and Rayna seems to tell her husband she doesn’t want to fall into another trap with him.

Based on the synopsis of “Nashville” Season 5, Rayna will be on a journey of discovery after learning about the plane crash of Juliette, played by Hayden Panettiere.

There are also reports saying that Rayna might likely depart the show as Connie Britton reportedly signed for about 22 episodes of “Nashville” Season 5.

Co-executive producer Marshall Herskovitz has not addressed how “Nashville” could possibly write Britton out but he did say that Rayna and Deacon’s scenes in Season 5 were exciting to write.

Herskovitz said that the idea of what it means to be married has always appealed to him and the other showrunners. He added that it is endlessly fascinating to talk about two adults trying to be in a relationship to each other.

Fair share of off-screen drama

“Nashville” used to air on ABC but it was canceled by the network after its Season 4 finale. However, the producers of the show were confident that the TV series would be rescued from cancellation.

True enough, CMT swooped in to save the day and agreed to pick up the show for its upcoming fifth season, notes Moviefone.

The premiere of “Nashville” Season 5 will pick up where things left off during the Season 4 finale revealing that Juliette was in a plane crash.

The Season 5 promo also promised that the episode will focus on the relationship between Scarlett, played by Clare Bowen, and Gunnar, played by Sam Palladio, as well as the return of Maddie, played by Lennon Stella, to her family after her emancipation last season.

While there have been plenty of casting reports and spoilers about the upcoming fifth season of “Nashville” following its move from ABC to CMT after its Season 4 finale, Marshall Herskovitz revealed that they have mandated the writers to shorten the scripts in order to give more time for music to play out.

With that being said, fans of the music drama can look forward to hearing more songs in the upcoming season of “Nashville” as opposed to heavy and continuous drama which the past seasons seem to have fallen into.

Herskovitz also pointed out that there would also be different styles of music that would be introduced and featured in the upcoming fifth season other than country music.
