He added that “Narcos” has evolved to become what they really wanted it to be and very much takes into consideration what they felt worked last season.
Newman said that there are still areas where they wanted to improve on during the production but basically he is happy that “Narcos” came out as very much the show they wanted.
Season 2 would have a very limited time to focus on Escobar’s escape from La Catedral to his death in Medellin. That means that the second season can only focus on the 18 months from the time that Escobar escaped from La Catedral to his death in Medellin. Thus, it is very much confirmed that the death of Pablo Escobar would be featured in the upcoming season of “Narcos,” leaving Season 3 without a main character from where its storyline can revolve.
With the reports of Season 2 featuring the demise of the Pablo Escobar, some critics believe that it shall also be the last for “Narcos” since the TV series will run out of steam and would look forced if the showrunners decide to focus on some other drug kingpins.
But if it is up to the producers, they would certainly wish a longer run for “Narcos” since apart from very good ratings, it is also a critically-acclaimed TV series.
They should consider going back in time again to tell the story of another kingpin namely Griselda “Godmother” since many consider her to also be one of the biggest cocaine distributors of all time and she was also very ruthless.
That would make for an interesting story and could take pressure off the writers to worry about where to take the series after Pablo is gone.
