When a show sees as much success for its first season like “Narcos” did, there is usually no reason to worry about its future, as more seasons are practically guaranteed unless something extraordinary happens to block the production. And while many people were expecting to see the continuation of Pablo Escobar’s story very soon after what we saw in the first season of the show, it has now been revealed that things are actually not that smooth behind the scenes. There are apparently some real issues on the horizon which could lead to a delay in bringing season 2 out.
According to the current rumors, the main problem at the moment is that Adam Fierro, a key figure in the production, has seemingly decided to part ways with the crew after his contract expired, and it’s not very clear right now who will take things over from him and where the show could go next. For the most part, many are worried if we are even going to see season 2 at all, as there is a very real risk that things can get very bad.
But for now, the main implication from this development is that the second season of the production will come with a delay. How long exactly, we don’t know – but if things really are as bad as some of the rumors are suggesting, it could definitely be a while before we see more episodes for this show.
What exactly is going on though? There are some vague rumors about creative differences allegedly causing trouble within the crew, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. According to those rumors, some of the people attached to the project are skeptical for its future, as they don’t see a realistic way to keep the story running for much longer. This is because we already know the life story of Pablo Escobar including when it ends, and considering how much of it we already saw in season one, there could definitely be some merit to the suggestion that the story is moving too fast for the show’s own good.
Of course, there is always the possibility that the writers can take things in their own hands and keep the story moving forward with their own ideas instead of focusing on reality so much. After all, the show has already taken some liberties with the way its plot unfolds but there are certain limits to how far this can go and still be appropriate.
Some people actually got so attached do “Narcos” due to the authenticity of the show in the first place, so taking that away from it could spell disaster. But of course, it’s just a matter of speculation whether this will actually happen or not. For all we know, the producers might actually have some ideas up their sleeve for continuing the show in a realistic way after the death of Pablo Escobar. That possibility is even implied in the show’s name, according to some – it doesn’t have to be about Escobar exclusively.
To be fair, season 2 could end up focusing on Escobar exclusively and still be successful, as there is a lot left in the drug lord’s story to show on the screen, and the events coming up are actually quite interesting. All the way until the death of the famous boss, we could see plenty of exciting action on the screen. Even though these events have been extensively documented already, it’s still something else to see them depicted in a dramatic way like that.
