Season 2 of the critically-acclaimed American psychological thriller drama TV series “Mr. Robot” is off to a rousing start on the USA Network as expected and after three episodes, it seems that there will be more surprises up in the horizon for the rest of the season.
The fourth episode of Season 2 shall air on July 27 and it shall continue with the efforts of Elliot Anderson, played by Rami Malek, to control his mind and block out Mr. Robot which was already seen in episode 3.
Elliot shall also befriend Ray, played by Craig Robinson, in the hope that he can finally delete Mr. Robot from his mind, details the International Business Times of UK.
The promo trailer for the upcoming fourth episode of “Mr. Robot” showed Ray telling Elliot that he should get rid of the battle within by simply making peace with the enemy.
Mr. Robot also said that he wants the same and says that he also does not want that two halves are in a perpetual war. But he came up with a dangerous plan to bring about a truce. He told Elliot that they will be having one game and the winner shall take everything.
Elliot then asks Mr. Robot what happens if he loses, to which the other person says that he gets to be in charge once and for all.
It would be very interesting to find out whether Mr. Robot shall win and take over Elliot’s mind completely or he shall finally wrest control of his mind for good.
Idealized version of Elliot
In a recent interview with actor Christian Slater, who plays Mr. Robot, he talked about the dynamics between Elliot and Mr. Robot. He said that Mr. Robot is an idealized version of who Elliot wanted his father to be.
Elliot wants his father to be somebody very mysterious and powerful in guiding him as he wades through his life and the challenges he encounters along the way.
The character is now trying to deal with that and place those restrictions in the current Season 2 of “Mr. Robot” and it so happened that Mr. Robot is always agitated whenever Elliot puts an obstacle in the way of his goals.
During episode 3 for instance, Elliot has been using the drug Adderall to block out Mr. Robot from his subconscious but it only lasts for a short time.
The third episode also touched on the subject of Tyrell Wellick’s whereabouts and found fsociety breaking up under the leadership of Darlene, played by Carly Chaikin.
FBI agent Dominique ‘Dom’ DiPierro, who is tasked with tracking down the culprits behind the E Corp hack, found an important clue that will take her to Coney Island arcade and to its broken fsociety sign.
It also featured Angela going out on a dinner party with CEO Philip Prince. Her night ended with her boss giving her the names of two E Corp executives who are responsible for the cover-up that ended in her mother’s death.
An ancillary tool for the narrative
The whole fsociety group has always felt very ancillary in “Mr. Robot” and they are mostly there when creator Sam Esmail needs them for narrative purposes, and not really worth exploring beyond that.
But all that seemed to have changed in the third episode of “Mr. Robot” Season 2 when the one-hour drama opened with two lesser known characters in Romero, played by Ron Chephas Jones, and Mobley, played by Azhar Khan, who seem to be moving the action in that direction, details Pop Matters.
The setting happened months before the timeline of Season 1 and it showed Romero giving a detailed and enthralling history of the building in which the now infamous hack took place – the fsociety arcade.
