Movoto, a real-estate company, has recently presented an idea regarding the possible location of the upcoming GTA 6. According to them, it should be Portland, Oregon. The company has further declared in a blog post that the location should be perfect for the next installment in the GTA franchise. They have also included a layout map of how the new GTA world should look like if it’s set in Portland.
Movoto thinks that Portland should be an ideal location for GTA 6 as it has more strip clubs and gun stores to Los Santos, the fictional location of GTA 5. To be accurate, Portland has around 81 strip clubs and nine different gun stores. These include many upscale joints like that of Casa Diablo and Devil’s Point. On an even brighter note, Portland only has six police stations compared to the 12 we witnessed in Grand Theft Auto V, set in Los Santos.
Thankfully, Portland also has just six police stations in reality, making it ideal for the gangsters and drug dealers roaming around in the GTA world. A further compelling factor is that Portland enjoys a unique style of its own. People, who have been to Portland or had fun with Portlandia, should notice it. While a lot of gamers are still waiting for GTA 5 to be released on the PC, there are many others focused on speculations regarding the possible location of the next installment in this franchise.
In the earlier Grand Theft Auto games, well-known locations like Miami, Los Angeles, and New York served as fictional backdrops. Portland could end up being a strong contender as it’s the largest city in Oregon and the third-most populated city in the Pacific North-West, 600,000 and counting. Movoto admitted that initially Portland was not at all their first choice. They went through a lot of locations, but in the end, the numbers indicated that Portland should serve as a great location for GTA 6.
Movoto stated that, for a GTA game to be quite successful, gamers will need that local city smell, that feel, which emanates a certain personal connection with the gamer. Due to rising expectations from world gamers, a new GTA title needs to be a little more unique and distinct than its predecessor. According to them, Portland should be a highly appropriate location to include places like bike shops and coffee shops. Portland as a massive collection of 637 coffee shops!
GTA 5 has been highly successful, selling 30 million copies worldwide. The huge success paved the way for a sequel and Rockstar is currently contemplating a possible location for GTA 6.
