Motorola Preparing to Roll Out Android 5.1 Lollipop to 2014 Moto X Pure Edition

The Android 5.1 Lollipop is coming along nicely on Nexus devices since its official roll out on March 9. While no announcement has been made by Google on which devices would follow the Nexus as far as the OTA update of Android 5.1 Lollipop is concerned, many believe that it would be Motorola most likely.

During the roll out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop in November last year, Nexus and Motorola devices were the first to take on the mobile operating system. Unfortunately, they were also the first devices to have suffered from the bugs, glitches, and issues that have hounded the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Since Google has pretty much addressed the major bugs and issues of the highly-touted but problematic Android 5.0 Lollipop with the new firmware update on the Nexus devices, Motorola can hardly wait to roll out the same to its mobile devices.

Word now has it that the Japanese smartphone maker is already testing the Android 5.1 Lollipop on its 2014 Moto X Pure Edition, according to Android Central.

As a matter of fact, Motorola has already posted on its website the release notes for the latest Android OS on its 2014 Moto X Pure Edition.

Penchant for quick updates

While Google has yet to announce the official roll out of Android 5.1 Lollipop on Motorola mobile devices, the Japanese smartphone maker has always been reputed for its penchant for quickly releasing updates to its devices.

If it’s not one of the first, Motorola normally comes in at second or third but never too late whenever there are software updates being rolled out.

Apart from testing the firmware update on the 2014 Moto X Pure Edition, Motorola’s release notes of the Android 5.1 Lollipop also contain the changes that the new OS will usher to the smartphone.

Most of these changes are major improvements on the Moto X from the previous edition of the Android OS, whether they be Android 5.0 Lollipop or subsequent updates up to Android 5.0.3.

Key improvements

Among these key improvements include increased clarity with the smartphone camera, which is generally one of the downsides of the 2014 Moto X Pure Edition.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop shall also bring forth the new Device Protection to the Moto X despite previous statements from Google that the feature shall only be active on devices that will come out of the box with Android 5.1 Lollipop on it as well as the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9.

Generally, the changes that the firmware update would bring to the 2014 Moto X Pure Edition include a whole lot of new features and major improvements that are surely exciting owners of the handsets the world over. The good news is that Motorola appears to be doing everything it could to make sure that users would not have to wait much longer.
