Motorola’s Moto X has been quite popular since it came out on the market, and the company has made sure that interested buyers can get their hands on the phone relatively easily, with low price points across all carriers. Some offer the device for free along with their contracts, while in other cases there is a charge that usually goes up to about $100. In any case, despite the device’s overall high popularity and the strong praise it’s been getting for the good combination of features that it offers, users have been requesting a good deal on contract-free versions of the device. And now, it seems this will become a reality soon, according to a recent announcement by Republic Wireless.
Republic Wireless will begin offering the Moto X without any contract for $399 on December 10 – that’s $100 lower than the original $499 price tag of the Moto X in the United States, however, there’s a catch. Users should keep in mind that “off-contract” is not the same as “unlocked”, as the phone will indeed be locked to Verizon Wireless. There is no word on whether or not Republic Wireless will also have an off-contract deal, but considering none has been announced yet, it’s not very likely.
However, buyers can sign up for their plans through Republic Wireless, who have their own offers ranging from $5 to $40 per month, and come in various combinations that include anything from unlimited minutes for calling, to a high speed Internet connection.
The Moto X has been getting some stable promotion lately, as Motorola recently ran a deal for the device on Cyber Monday, when it was offered for $140 less for the off-contract version. All in all, it looks like Motorola don’t have a problem with giving interested buyers plenty of options for getting their popular devices cheaply, and with the upcoming holidays, it’s likely that they will want to do yet another discount of some sort as well.
Those who missed the last deal, and aren’t interested in getting the device with a Verizon contract, should keep an eye out for upcoming promotions by Motorola or retailers. On the other hand, the deals offered by Republic Wireless for this particular device aren’t bad at all, especially if interested users want to get a solid data plan to go with their devices. Considering the Moto X’s capabilities, getting a good data plan with it makes perfect sense. The Moto X is a powerful multimedia device, and it can also be the perfect companion for heavy social media users – but both of these activities rely heavily on a good Internet connection for the most part.
