Unlike other smartphone makers who have had trouble deciding whether this or that handset line will be updated to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Motorola does not have a problem confirming the rollout of Google’s latest mobile OS for its Moto G series.
Hardly batting an eyelash, the American tech company assured users of all its three Motorola Moto G series smartphones that they will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates from December this year to February next year.
Accordingly, the Motorola Moto G3, which was released to the market late in July this year will be the first in the smartphone line to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update before the end of this year, notes Neurogadget.
Motorola Moto G2, on the other hand, will follow suit and shall receive it in January next year before the sleeper success of 2013, which is the Moto G, will get the latest mobile operating system from Google in February 2016.
Taking the necessary step
To make it easier for each of the devices to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, Motorola has actually officially released the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to the three devices on September 29.
September 29 was supposed to be the date of the official release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but Google has moved it by a week.
This means that all the Moto G phones will already have the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update when the Android 6.0 Marshmallow officially rolls out. If the Moto G of 2013 can take on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop without any issues, it will have no major issues taking on the sweet and cottony soft taste of the Marshmallow.
However, Motorola has yet to make an announcement or statement to either confirm or deny those reported roll outs of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow on its budget smartphone line so these are mere speculations at this time.
The firsts among the Motorola smartphones
In addition to the Motorola Moto G3, other Motorola smartphones which shall first receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow before the end of this year include the Moto X Style, which is also known as the Moto X Pure, the Moto X 2014, and the Droid Turbo.
Accordingly, the latest mobile OS from Google will come with many new changes and improvements including API level 23, improved enumeration support, a rotatable home screen, and updated options for emergency calls.
The Australian News Network believes however that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow might officially arrive around the middle of this month, a presumption that was primarily based on Google’s release of the Android 5.0 Lollipop last year.
Google has already seeded the Android 6.0 Marshmallow to developers including the third and final incremental update, whose first preview platform was released as early as May this year.
The new mobile OS brings with it several other new improvements including better battery life and app permission management, Android Pay, fingerprint authentication, support for USB Type-C, and an advanced Google Now.
In addition, Google confirmed that the Marshmallow shall have improved voice control software including a new tool that enables users to open Chrome browsers tabs directly inside apps.
Meanwhile, the original Motorola Moto G which was launched in 2013 is the American tech company’s biggest sleeper success to date and has eventually become Motorola’s biggest selling device of all time. It was considered as one of the best-value Android experiences one can get on a smartphone back then until early last year.
That is why the pressure was on its successor, the Motorola Moto G 2nd generation, also referred to as Motorola Moto G2, when it was unveiled in September last year.
While it may not have been as successful as its predecessor, sales-wise, the Motorola Moto G2 has evidently improved on the recipe, not in a big way but just enough to keep fans and users happy knowing that Motorola has taken the effort to improve the very successful Motorola Moto G.
