The original Motorola Moto G which was launched in 2013 is the American tech company’s biggest sleeper success to date and has eventually become Motorola’s biggest selling device of all time. It was considered as one of the best-value Android experiences one can get on a smartphone back then until early last year.
That is why the pressure was on its successor, the Motorola Moto G 2nd generation, also referred to as Motorola Moto G2, when it was unveiled in September last year.
While it may not have been as successful as its predecessor, sales-wise, the Motorola Moto G2 has evidently improved on the recipe, not in a big way but just enough to keep fans and users happy knowing that Motorola has taken the effort to improve the very successful Motorola Moto G, notes the Android Pit.
With the rollout of the Motorola Moto G2 late last year, the best low-cost Android smartphone just got a whole lot better and immediately posed a threat to the other flagship smartphones of big-name handset manufacturers.
The Motorola Moto G2 has made key improvements on its predecessor like having a larger screen and higher resolution, a microSD expansion, better camera, dual-SIM, stereo front-facing speakers, and the inclusion of switchable back panels, the same features that really made its predecessor a great smartphone and a worthy acquisition.
The even better news is that the Motorola Moto G2 was exceptionally affordable just like its predecessor, though admittedly, for some reasons, it did not have the game-changing attributes as the Motorola Moto G.
Upgraded variant
In March this year, Motorola released an upgraded variant of its Moto G2 which featured a new capability of supporting 4G LTE connectivity, which greatly renewed consumer interests and enthusiasm on the handset.
As the new variant basically retained its key features and its affordable price, the upgraded Motorola Moto G2 certainly attracted more buyers, notes the Ecumenical News.
The upgraded variant of the Motorola Moto G2 also comes with a much-improved camera and a larger screen that makes it a worthwhile update from its previous edition.
It’s not a groundbreaking update compared to its first edition and less comfortable to hold too but the fact that its bigger means that users get to have their money’s worth physically.
With a big screen comes a decent display quality and for its price, the Motorola Moto G2 surely has the superb value.
However, it also comes with a few downsides compared to the first Motorola Moto G 1st generation. In addition to lower sharpness and slightly disappointing battery life compared to the Motorola Moto G, the Motorola Moto G2 is a little chunky and also has an average sound quality.
But the downsides to the upgraded smartphone are more than offset by its new capability of supporting 4G LTE connectivity. The even better news is that it’s not as expensive as the current list of flagship mobile devices that offer the same kind and level of connectivity to its users.
