The Motorola Moto G2 is one of the best budget devices from the company, compared to the other smartphones in the range. For the specifications that are on offer, the price is absolutely silly and this has been a major selling point for the device. The first-generation Moto G released as a budget option for customers looking for mid-market features at a decent price range and the sub-$200 price tag featured in the Moto G’s favor.
The second generation smartphone boasts of a few well-deserved upgrades over its predecessor, even though it comes with its own share of downsides too, which we shall address later. However, the overall verdict is still in favor of the Moto G2, since, the downsides are negligible and can be ignored easily.
The Motorola Moto G2 features a 5-inch HD touchscreen as compared to the 4.5-inch display on the Moto G. The resolution on both these devices is 1,280 x 720 pixels, meaning that the display on the Moto G is crispier than its successor.
Both devices feature Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for advanced protection while the 8MP camera on the G2 is a major upgrade over the 5MP on the G. The G2 can record 720p videos at 30fps, which is a minor upgrade over the G’s 5 MP primary and 1.3 MP secondary lens. Technical features on both these devices are similar on most counts apart from the ones mentioned above.
Both devices run on a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, which are quad-core for maximum efficiency, apart from the Adreno 305 GPU and 1 GB of RAM, apart from 8 and 16 GB of built-in memory. The Motorola Moto G2 features an external MicroSD Card slot for additional expansion and this has been a welcome change so far.
The primary drawbacks of the first generation Moto G was the lack of LTE support. The Moto G2 gets rid of this problem. Even though Motorola launched the first generation Moto G with LTE later on, the G2 received primary importance due to the larger screen size, better camera quality and expandable storage capability.
The first generation Moto G is available for $180, which is $40 cheaper than the Moto G2. Hence, whether you opt for the cheaper alternative or its pricier cousin is purely a personal choice. The overall verdict for both these devices is positive and the market feedback has been phenomenal too.
Prices may further vary depending on the carrier that you choose to opt for. The Motorola Moto G2 finds precedence in most markets around the globe, although, with better products coming out from the developers, Motorola is in for some serious competition.

It is definitely a very good phone for this price tag;but it lacks a few basic features like call blocking/auto reply when we cannot attend calls at certain times; otherwise excellent phone
