An upgraded version of Moto X Play
Based on the leaks of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2, the smartphone actually looks more like the Motorola Moto X Play more than the Motorola Moto X Style but its sides are completely straight and don’t appear to taper off near the corner which is the attribute of the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style.
There were initial reports that say that the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 would be launched in October, and there were also reports that it will come out in December. Now it becomes clear that the October rollout is for the US market while the December-launching is for Europe and China.
The Motorola Droid Turbo is available in metallic black or red colors while the leaked image of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 shows a gray shell.
Reports also indicate that the company may make an announcement or a big reveal about the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 when it participates in the upcoming IFA event in Berlin, Germany.
Numerous leaks of the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 have made it to the internet as early as June. While no official announcement of statement has come from the American smartphone maker, the leaks were already more than enough to confirm the existence of the successor of Motorola’s flagship smartphone of 2014.
Motorola announced on July 28 the impending arrival of Moto X 2015 and the Moto X Play, but American consumers got dismayed upon learning that the latter smartphone would not make it to the US market.
This is such a marginal improvement over the Droid Turbo. Same 3 GBs of RAM, Same MP camera, a slightly smaller battery, a slightly larger screen. A Snapdragon 810 instead of a Snapdragon 805. Much more of a creep than a leap.
Three other big standout features: the front facing camera has a flash, the phone uses LPDDR4 RAM, and it’s water (splash) resistant.
