Various tweets have been coming from Ed Boon teasing the game’s fans about Rain, and it looks like he’s been getting the desired effect – the community is very excited about the new content at the moment.
One thing worth noting is that the developers haven’t explicitly confirmed the ability to play as Rain, and some players have speculated that he’ll only be featured as an opponent. At the same time, the PC version’s modding community jumped into the discussion with some revelations of their own.
Modders showed that Rain, Sindel and Baraka can be used in the training mode of the PC version, so that’s a good sign that the characters will also be usable as player-controlled fighters in standard matches. It’s up to NetherRealm to confirm this right now, but given the hype the new DLC has created, it would be quite disappointing to a lot of people to see the characters as enemies only.
