Mortal Kombat X New DLC Could Still Make It to the PC, Latest Reports Claim!

“Mortal Kombat X” has had a tough time on the PC, and NetherRealm announced some time ago that they intend to halt development for the PC version of the game due to technical issues. It started badly right from the launch, and the issues that plagued the game were enough to make many players quit. In the end, the developers decided to focus their efforts on the console versions of the game, producing new content for them exclusively.

That might change soon though, according to recent reports, as NetherRealm have possibly picked up development on the PC version of the game once again, and are apparently planning to port all new content there. There was even a possible hint from Ed Boon pointing in that direction, as he posted a tweet where the capital letters formed the abbreviation “MKXL PC”. Considering the peculiar way he capitalized some letters in the sentence, it seems almost impossible that this was coincidental.

The hints don’t stop here though, as SteamDB recently displayed a new listing related to the PC version of the game too. All signs seem to point in the direction of “Mortal Kombat XL” coming to the PC, but we still don’t know when. Most PC gamers would probably agree that NetherRealm can take as long as they want (within reasonable bounds, obviously) if they deliver the content properly ported and bug-free.

It’s been a while since PC fans of the game made it clear that they want to see more content, and some even went as far as to say that they felt cheated by NetherRealm. Various polls – including at least one major one – indicated that this was the main request of most fans of the game, and it’s clear that NetherRealm have been paying attention. Which says a lot about them in the context of other developers lately, as the market has become quite aggressive in pushing some trends on players against their will.

In other news, reports indicate that “Kombat Pack 3” is still being developed, although it’s not clear if it will be included in the PC deal or not. It’s possible that the developers will only focus on the first two DLCs for the game, but if they do include the third pack as well, this would definitely seal the deal for most PC gamers. Of course, we would have to wait even longer to get the new content in that case.

The more likely version is that the developers are going to port “Mortal Kombat XL” first, and then work on the third DLC if there is enough interest in it. The last part is important, as the reputation of the franchise was significantly undermined with the last release on the PC, and it’s expected that gamers will be far less trusting once the “XL” version comes to Steam. Hopefully, once some user reviews are posted and gamers see that it works properly, it will climb back up in the charts.

Steam has made it very easy for developers to redeem themselves after a botched launch lately, with one example being the separation of user reviews into “all” and “recent”. That way, it’s much more obvious if a game has had its issues addressed after its release, or if the developers have abandoned it. In the case of “Mortal Kombat XL”, it’s very likely that gamers would be very eager to share their opinions about the PC port, so there should be plenty of user reviews on Steam.
