If you are waiting around for the latest version of the Mortal Kombat video game series to arrive at your favorite video game store, you are not alone. Since the 90’s, Mortal Kombat has been very popular and with the tenth installment of the video game series coming out soon, there is plenty of talk about what gamers can expect. Recently, it was announced that there will be new characters and that was just enough to get the online buzz going again.
The new characters were not really revealed at that time, but there was plenty of speculation as to what might be coming. Fans wanted to see certain characters and they were making wishlists about that and posting them all over the internet for others to comment on. In the meantime, sources were trying to inform fans that the list was going to contain more ninja’s. Because the game is expected to be a hit, it has spawned a new, weekly comic series that fans can read through to learn more about the characters.
The first chapter is reportedly ready if you would like to read it, according to one source. Another source said that download links at Comixology and in the Google Play store were not working for them yet. It is possible there are country restrictions on the download links, so you will have to just go to the page and try for yourself. The comic book is reportedly set many years before Mortal Kombat X, which is actually about 25 years after the 2011 Mortal Kombat release.
The first issues talks about Scorpion and Kenshi, which are two well-known characters and is going to be familiar to most fans. The online sources are claiming that in future issues, the new Mortal Kombat X characters will be featured and they include names like D’vorah, Kotal Khan and Cassie Cage, just to name a few of them. The writer of the comic book did make a note saying that just because you see the character in the book, that does not mean you will see it in the game.
That goes without saying, but the lists that have popped up online about the new characters coincide with some of the names that we have already seen listed for the future editions of the comic book. According to the main writer, the end of the 2011 version of the game left “major ramifications for this universe” and even after all of this time, they weight heavily on the characters. Gamers can expect to see the new Mortal Kombat X game available on all consoles and PC by the end of April of this year.
