However, we have no idea what the new film will be about and what kinds of changes it might introduce to the formula. There are lots of rumors going around, sure – but official confirmations are a different story and Cruise has been keeping mostly quiet about the situation at the moment.
He probably won’t reveal any of the spicier details until the next film has gone through some major stages of production, and we expect that we’re going to find out more around the end of this year, possibly in the beginning of the next one.
Until then, fans should kick back and relax, knowing that Tom Cruise is at least preparing one more solid entry in this franchise for them. Whether or not he’ll continue it afterwards we still don’t know, but even if he doesn’t, it shouldn’t be a big deal to most fans.
They should just be happy that they got to enjoy such amazing films for many years and that Tom Cruise managed to bring some fresh new ideas to the scene and revived the action film genre at a time when some were starting to see its decline. Obviously that decline didn’t happen, but it was still commendable that Cruise decided to take a risk and work on something that could have failed just based on its premise alone.
