The news surrounding the latest installment of the Mission Impossible movies has taken a turn for the almost worse. Tom Cruise apparently almost got hit by a double decker bus when it stepped in front of it while filming the new Mission Impossible 5 movie in the United Kingdom. Last month, the news was just about where the movie was being filmed, where the movie was at in the production phase and when fans might be able to see it in the theater.
The upcoming film is expected to be released next Christmas even though the filming of the movie started back in August of this year. The movie is written by Drew Pearce and Will Staples and is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and includes Tom Cruise as the main character, Ethan Hunt. Other actors that will be in the fifth installment of the movie include Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson and Sean Harris just to name a few that you might remember.
Filming for the movie started in Austria and moved to Morocco shortly after that. Photos surfaced online that showed a trailer carrying more than one wrecked BMW from the set of the movie in Morocco suggesting that the action is none stop, just like the other 4 movies in the series. It looks like the actors are being spotted on location and that means the filming is well underway.
Tom Cruise has made a pretty big name for himself over the years, but the last 4 Mission Impossible movies have propelled his career in ways that movies like Top Gun and Days of Thunder could not. Mission Impossible IV: Ghost Protocol was released back in 2011 and it surpassed the $650 million dollar mark in terms of worldwide sales, which is about 3 times the budget for the movie. Mission Impossible V is supposed to be the sequel to Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and according to sources, it was fast tracked by Paramount due to the success of the fourth movie.
The fourth movie was the highest grossing of the series and was actually the 5th highest grossing movie during 2011 making it a permanent fixture in Blu-ray collections all over the world. The original movie in the series was released back in 1996 with a new movie released every 2-4 years after, bringing in more than $2 billion in worldwide sales. The fifth installment to the series is expected to be just as good and bring in just as much money as the others. With many directors and other changes the movie series has come a long way in the last 18 years.
