‘Minecraft’ to Get More Awesome with Upcoming Update on Game’s Windows 10 Beta and Pocket Editions!

Just when most gamers thought that the open-world video game “Minecraft” can no longer get any better, Swedish developer Mojang always comes up with a surprise update to make it even more interesting and fun for gamers.

That seems to be the case when the upcoming Minecraft: 0.12.1 update comes along on the “Minecraft” Windows 10 Beta and Pocket editions that those in the know describe as really awesome, notes Engadget.

The update will give gamers more ways to build and explore their respective “Minecraft” worlds alongside friends whether they are playing on the Windows 10 PC, the Windows Phone, the iOS, or Android.

Cross-platform multiplayer game

And for the first time ever, the “Minecraft: 0.12.1″ update will enable five players to play cross-platform multiplayer on a local network between “Minecraft: Pocket Edition” and “Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta.”

The Windows 10 Edition Beta allows up to five friends to play together over Xbox Live, and regardless of what edition of “Minecraft” a gamer is playing, he will be able to enhance his equipment with special effects from the enchanting tables.

The “Minecraft: 0.12.1” also brings the biggest update for “Minecraft: Pocket Edition” and it shall come with a host of highly-requested features for mobile players.

In addition to revamped touch controls, controller support, and controller mapping screen, gamers will also be treated to the same enhanced weather effects that the “Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta” will receive including snow accumulation and directional rain.

There will also be plenty of new items to build and potions to brew as gamers would now be able to encounter golems and ocelots and get the opportunity to explore the spooky Nether dimension.

Microsoft has put a ton of work into its new Xbox app for Windows 10 because it wants to prove that its latest OS is a worthy upgrade for PC gamers, which would also make it easier for beginners to set up collaborative builds, cites Xbox Wire.

No specific goals

“Minecraft” is an open-world game that has no specific goals for the player to accomplish, allowing gamers a large amount of freedom in choosing how to play the game.

Created by Swedish programmer Markus “Notch” Persson and subsequently developed and published by Swedish gaming company Mojang, “Minecraft” has creative and building aspects that enable players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world.

The game also allows exploration, resource gathering, crafting, and combat. It was officially released on November 18, 2011, to the PC and mobile devices by Mojang; then to the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the Windows Phone by Microsoft Studios; and to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita by Sony Computer Entertainment.

Despite its blocky graphics that basically resembles Lego playable sets, the sandbox independent video game “Minecraft” is one of the most successful video games in the world.

“Minecraft” come in two gameplay modes – a single player and a multiplayer mode. Both modes came in three sub-modes. There is the survival mode where players must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health.

The global popularity of “Minecraft” was highlighted during the MineCon 2015 event held on July 4 to 5 at the ExCel London Exhibition and Conference Center in London, where fans and gamers came in droves and by the thousands too.

Minecraft

Last month, Mojang released the “Minecraft 1.9: The Combat Update” which is mostly about cuddling and farming plants.

The update gave gamers hilariously overpowered or underpowered things. There are no melee combat changes, no shields, no meaning of life, and no hugs too.

  1. Yup. Figures. We (the linux community) knew that as soon as Microsoft bought Minecraft, they would start this crap. Nevermind that we were also paying customers. Just one more reason to get MS free.
