If you have not heard about Minecraft or at least overheard a simple reference to the game lately, you might have to check your hearing or get out from under the rock you have been living in. Minecraft is a very popular game that has taken over just about every single console, computer and mobile device for the last few years. Over the last few weeks, the game has been in the headlines for various reasons, but the announced change that could be coming is getting more buzz than ever.
When Minecraft first came out, the game was awesome, people played it all day and loved it. New games go through a progression that starts with being announced, developed and released. Shortly after the release, it is time to hear gamers from all over the world find the bugs and hope they get worked out by developers. Minecraft is passed that position and now players are just posting feature wishlists all over the place.
One of the main features that players were hoping for was being able to change your name, in the game. This feature was teased by a couple of sources a little while ago, but it was more of a rumor at that point. Since then, the developer announced that the change was coming and it will be a matter of time. Now players are going to have to wait to see when it will arrive and be implemented in the game.
According to at least one source, the change your in-game name feature will be available on your account page. To keep things simple, the company has added a bunch of rules that you will have to follow in order to go through the process, but that was not a surprise. It is more of a pain for the developers when you want to change your name, but more games are on board with it, so Minecraft was next in line.
The first rule is that you will not be able to claim any name that has already been taken. The name change will take up to 37 days to go into effect and the name become available for all of the players in the game. Another minor thing is that you will only be able to change your name, once every 30 days. Even a more important note is that you should realize that you cannot change your name if you are banned player, as the new name does not change your account and that is likely to be what is banned from Minecraft.
