Microsoft Surface Pro 5 to Come Out Next Year Sporting a Power-Efficient and Very Powerful Kaby Lake Processor, More Details

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will complete its one-year market cycle next month that is why rumors about its successor, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, have been making the rounds on the internet heavily for the past couple of months.

While the Redmondian company would like nothing but to launch the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 in October this year, reports have it that Intel’s Kaby Lake processor, which Microsoft intends to use for its hybrid laptop-tablet line, is still due for mass production before the end of the year.

Thus, it seems logical to assume that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will come out to the market sometime next year although no exact date has been given thus far, reports Yibada.

The Intel Kaby Lake processor is reported to be a power-efficient and very powerful processor that could double the performance of the hybrid laptop-tablet.

One of the major problems of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, when it was launched last year, was its poor battery. The Intel Kaby Lake processor, in effect, fixes the battery issue on the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 right off the bat, notes the University Herald.

Other notable features

The latest iteration of Microsoft’s hybrid laptop-tablet line shall also be sporting a USB Type-C port, which has become the standard in modern day devices to allow for speedy data transfer.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 shall also be sporting a 4K Ultra HD display with an option for a lower-end variant with a 2K display.

The devices shall feature 16GB of RAM, a rear-facing 16-megapixel camera, and an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper.

There are rumors saying that Microsoft would be holding an event in October but it will not be launching any of the next generation Surface devices nor the much-rumored Surface Phone. Instead, the Redmondian company will be launching an all-in-one PC together with a revamped Surface Book and Surface Pro 4.

The rumored all-in-one PC will be the company’s center of focus at next month’s event and it would be tagged as the device to turn users’ desktops into studios.

However, all these remain as speculations pending the official confirmation from Microsoft so it should be taken with a pinch of salt.

The best just got better

When the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 came out in October last year, it was regarded as perhaps the best device ever to come from the Redmondian company.

With the combination laptop tablet about to mark its one-year market cycle next month, rumors and speculations are starting to get louder on the impending arrival of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, which would make the best even better.

High among the rumored features of the Surface Pro 5 is its next-generation processor from Intel, which accordingly is to be called as Kaby Lake.

More than the name of the processor, what’s really interesting is the fact that Intel actually used 14-nanometer technologies in designing the Kaby Lake processor which means that it is more high-tech and more advanced. As such, it is also expected that the Kaby Lake processor shall bring about more impressive features for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.

The Kaby Lake processor was announced by Intel on August 30, 2016, but it began shipping to manufacturers and OEMs in the second quarter of this year. However, mass production is not expected to commence until late this year.

The speculations about the impending arrival of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 also started gaining traction when retail prices of the Surface Pro 4 started dropping in a number of retail stores last month.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 received a price cut of $280 on account of a 50-hour sale that concluded on August 20.

Based on the previous rumors, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 shall reportedly come out with a 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) panel screen. It is also reported to feature a USB Type-C port, which has become the norm in modern devices because of its very fast data transfers.
