Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Rumored to Come Out Early in 2017 with a High-End Chipset and Running on Windows 10 Redstone 2, More Details

Contrary to previous speculations that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will come out during the Microsoft event on October 26, the device was a no-show.

The latest iteration of the combination laptop and tablet from the Redmondian company is now being rumored to be launched early next year with the high-end chipset in Intel’s Kaby Lake and possibly running on the new Windows 10 Redstone 2 that Microsoft just launched last month, notes News Everyday.

The device shall also come out with an upgraded Surface Pen that can run on rechargeable batteries, which can be charged in a wireless mode since it is magnetically linked to the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.

Redstone 2 has been referred to as the Creator’s gadget, a software with the potential capability and much improved to Microsoft’s Edge, personalization capabilities, and adjustments to built-in apps.

Faster and more optimal performance

Having the Intel Kaby Lake processor also assures that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be faster and exude a more optimal performance, reports Game & Guide.

It shall also feature a USB Type-C charging port, which has become the new paradigm in modern-day devices for faster data transfers.

Based on its rumored specifications and features, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is going to be a spectacular piece of device when it finally arrives on the market next year.

It shall reportedly come out with an improved Surface Pen, which will be an integral component of Microsoft Surface devices from thereon.

According to analysts, one of the main reasons why the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was rumored to come out last month is because its predecessor, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, completed its one-year market cycle also last month.

But the same rumors are also consistent in saying that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be a lot better than the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 although based on the supposed leaked design of the upcoming device, the changes do not appear to be that much, externally that is.

Simply not feasible

While the Redmondian company would like nothing but to launch the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 last month, it later on became clear that it was not just possible and feasible since Intel’s Kaby Lake processor, which Microsoft intends to use for its hybrid laptop-tablet line, is due for mass production before the end of the year yet.

The Kaby Lake processor was announced by Intel on August 30, 2016 but it began shipping to manufacturers and OEMs in the second quarter of this year, Mass production is not expected to commence until late this year.

Thus, it seems logical to assume that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will come out to the market sometime next year although no exact date has been given thus far.

The Intel Kaby Lake processor is reported to be a power-efficient and very powerful processor that could double the performance of the hybrid laptop-tablet.

One of the major problems of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, when it was launched last year, was its poor battery. The Intel Kaby Lake processor, in effect, fixes the battery issue on the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 right off the bat.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 shall also be sporting a 4K Ultra HD display with an option for a lower-end variant with a 2K display.

The devices shall feature 16GB of RAM, a rear-facing 16-megapixel camera, and an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper.

More than the name of the processor, what’s really interesting is the fact that Intel actually used 14-nanometer technologies in designing the Kaby Lake processor which means that it is more high-tech and more advanced. As such, it is also expected that the Kaby Lake processor shall bring about more impressive features for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5.
