Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Likely to Join Windows 10 Devices Launch on October 6

The resolution for both variants reportedly stands at 2160 x 1440 with a ClearType screen in places. Reports suggest that most users will probably opt to go with the 14-inch model since the screen goes unmatched. Comparatively, the Apple iPad Pro’s displays measure just under 13 inches.

The Surface Pro 4 is also said to have a Dual-Core Intel Skylake Core i5 or i7 processor under its hood. The device will reportedly contain a whopping 4GB of RAM, which would really make it the perfect all-around device to be released this year.

Latin Post adds that the upcoming tablet-laptop hybrid will also come with faster SSDs, type-C USB, and Windows Hello, Microsoft’s biometric system that allows users to log in their account using their physiological features. This fuels rumors that Surface Pro 4 will be carrying out a fingerprint scanner feature too.

One of the facets of any device is its price and given how much Surface Pro 4 costs, it is definitely not short of being a bargain. Speculations say that amid the devices offering top-notch specs and features, the 12-inch model will cost roughly $1,200 while users will probably shell out about $1,400 for the 14-inch variant.

It is worth noting though that Surface Pro 4 is more costly than the Apple iPad Pro. The iPad Pro Wi-Fi only model with 32GB storage has an introductory price of $799 while the Wi-Fi only model with 128GB storage is priced at $949. The iPad Pro model with 128GB storage and cellular connectivity costs $1,079.

  1. There’s one odd omission on Surface: no headphone dongle control support for you! Apparently some Bluetooth headphone controls work; but why should consumers have to fuss with one more piece of junk that needs constant recharging, when wired earbuds and headphones with dongle controls are ubiquitous?

If you’re used to using your oh-so-handy wired headphone dongle for phone/Skype/music/volume controls, you’re out of luck with Surface. Inquiries to Microsoft through multiple channels basically got me blank stares: dongle controls are dumb! Why would you want dongle controls?!

Sure, Apple has a stupid patent on their headphone controls, but can’t MS and Apple come to an agreement? After all, hell has frozen over and MS now has Office on iPad. Surely MS can figure out a way to support dongle controls. MS is going to great, glitzy lengths to convince buyers Surface is a capable replacement for their Apple product–but how could they have missed out on one of the most convenient, user-friendly features of all time? Sign me baffled.
