Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is Better than the Apple iPad Pro as a Desktop or Laptop Replacement!

Microsoft and Apple have relived their rivalry dating back from the battle of the PC and the Mac in the 80s now that both the Surface Pro 4 and the iPad Pro are already out in the market.

As expected, critics and users can’t help but compare the two devices in practically all aspects. Microsoft was actually ahead of Apple in foraying into the combination laptop and tablet device so it is expected that it would enjoy an outright advantage.

The Redmondian company has long positioned its Surface Pro devices as a laplet, so when the Surface Pro 4 came out last month, it was understood that it is the best in the Microsoft lot.

On the part of Apple, instead of launching the iPad Air 3 in September, it decided to foray into the laplet segment for the first time by launching its giant tablet which it called as the iPad Pro. Eventually, the giant tablet made its way to the market this month.

With experience and functionality stack in its favor, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has indeed overwhelmed the Apple iPad Pro not only as a laptop alternative but also a desktop replacement. It has become the device that workaholics on the go must have, notes Know Your Mobile.

Apple still has a lot of catching up to do but Microsoft need not feel secure because knowing how swift the development process of the Cupertino-based tech company is, it would not be surprising if Apple eventually pulls the rug from under Microsoft a few years from now in the specialized laplet segment.

Professional devices

Both the Surface Pro 4 and the iPad Pro are deemed as professional devices. But Microsoft’s bet is in a better position to live up to such claim because it runs a full desktop OS in Windows 10 while the Apple’s giant table runs on the company’s latest mobile OS, the iOS 9.

The two devices feature keyboards and stylus support, but they also have major differences. The Surface Pro 4 is very much a PC for a post-PC world while the iPad Pro looks to build on what users are already doing with tablets but in a more professional environment.

Rather than using it for communications and entertainment like its previous tablets, Apple has positioned the iPad Pro to edit videos and images, write and edit letters, send e-mails, among the usual work functions. It also sought to give the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 a challenge. While Apple did well on its first attempt, the experience of Microsoft prevailed and came out quite obvious in the Surface Pro 4.

However, the technical advantage of the Surface Pro 4 comes with a price, which the iPad Pro is playing up to get a sizeable share of the market, where other players include the likes of the Apple MacBook Air, the Lenovo Yoga Pro 2, and the Dell XPS 13, cites the Business Insider.

Unfortunately for some users of Microsoft Surface Pro 4, some of the units got into the market with factory defects that often die on them. It is almost certain that Microsoft is now acting on the problem that is related more to logistics.

A productivity tablet

Following its official release to the market on October 26, the reviews on the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 are mostly positive with some experts saying that it is the best productivity tablet in the market today. The title used to be held by the Surface Pro 3, but Microsoft released the updated version through the Surface Pro 4.

Microsoft also surprised the global tech community when it also unravelled along with the Surface Pro 4 the Surface Book on October 6, which also hit the markets on October 26. The Surface Book is a gorgeous laptop which packs some serious power to complement its sleek and compact design.

Prior to the launch of the Surface Pro 4, reports were already rife that it will go up against the Apple iPad Pro. While the Cupertino-based tech company launched its giant iPad on September 9, the device made its way to the market this November.
