According to some critics, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 was undoubtedly the best computer of 2014. It is a powerful laptop/tablet/desktop which also comes with an active stylus. Although it’s a great device, a new year is upon us, and it sure seems like a promising year for technological innovations.
CES was here and currently everyone is befuddled with the latest gadgets and gizmos. While a lot of it is just noise, Toshiba is sure making an impression this year. They have revealed a beast of a machine that directly rivals the Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Featuring a powerful Intel Core M Portege Z20t, it is bound to take on the Surface Pro 3.
The device comes with a 12.5-inch display and provides a superlative balance between performance and mobility, a must in the devices of tomorrow. It is extremely light and built from a highly durable magnesium alloy.
Weighing at around 1.6 pounds, the whole device weighs a mere 3.3 pounds when including the keyboard dock. The keyboard dock comes with a simple hinge mechanism which allows the tablet to be easily detached by one hand. The process of attachment is a reversible one. It includes a presentation mode which can show content to a group of people, according to Toshiba.
Furthermore, as already discussed the processor offers a great form of compatibility when balancing your business-class performance with a strong battery life. The Z20t is built inside a fan-less chassis with a black magnesium alloy premium finish. It can operate silently for up to 9.1 hours on a single battery charge.
With the keyboard dock, you can further extend the battery life to a blistering 17.4 hours! Other than these, you have your 128/256GB SSD variants, an 8GB LPDDR3 RAM, various sensors, e-compass, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11ac among others.
Fans had a huge complain about the fan noise in the Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Well, Toshiba doesn’t have a problem there. The Broadwell processor totally rejects the use of a fan. Also, Toshiba’s digitizer is a Wacom variant. Certain creative people were disgruntled by the N-trig model in the Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Compared to the latter, the Z20t uses a much more traditional and rigid keyboard dock, presumably great for lap typing.
Since the past few months, Microsoft has been producing videos with a sole purpose of demonstrating how normal people and businesses tend to use the Surface Pro 3. While Microsoft mainly shows how to circle things using the pen, latest videos are much more informative. A recent video shows how a company creates unique high-heel shoes. They make use of the device for note-taking, photo editing along with the entire modeling process.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Microsoft Surface Pro 3!
