The Microsoft Surface Book 2 has been previously rumored to come out this month along with the Surface Pro 5. The Redmondian tech company has a scheduled event on October 26 but neither of the two devices will be coming out as the occasion shall be focusing on the Windows 10 upgrade as well as the Microsoft all-in-one desktop officially known as the Surface PC.
The Surface Book 2 is the latest iteration of the notebook line of Microsoft and just like the Surface Pro 5, it shall reportedly come out with a Kaby Lake processor from Intel, regarded as a very powerful and power-efficient chipset.
The Microsoft Surface Book 2 shall reportedly come with the latest Windows 10 update called as the Redstone 2. The device is also being hyped by Microsoft as the ultimate laptop, reports the Christian Today.
It shall also come out with a 4K resolution 3D display, OneClip, and Office Hub features, the Surface Pen, as well as the support for USB 3.1. It shall also feature a new NVIDIA graphics card that will complement its excellent resolution.
Since it will not be launched next week, critics are one in speculating that the Surface Book 2 could come out along with the Surface Pro 5 next year although Microsoft has yet to make an announcement about the exact release date for the two flagship devices.
Going up against the 2016 Apple MacBook Pro?
There are also reports saying that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 shall be going head-to-head with the 2016 Apple MacBook Pro when it comes out to the market, reports Headlines & Global News.
However, up until this time, Apple has yet to make an announcement regarding the release date for its latest MacBook Pro. The American tech giant only has a few weeks to launch the 2016 MacBook Pro since the calendar year is about to draw to a close.
It would be foolish for the American tech giant to launch a 2016 Apple MacBook Pro next year for a very obvious reason so it is possible that the device could turn out to be the 2017 Apple MacBook Pro.
If that is to be the case, then it would be more fitting to compete head on with the Microsoft Surface Book 2 for the prestigious title of the best laptop in the market when they both officially come out.
Expected to dominate the competition
Some critics also believe that if ever the head-to-head match up between the two flagship laptops happen in the near future, the competition would not be even close as the Microsoft Surface Book 2 would dominate the Apple MacBook Pro outright.
Because unlike the rumored 2016 Apple MacBook Pro, which is purely a laptop, the Surface Book 2, just like the Surface Book and the upcoming Surface Pro 5, has a removable display and thinner too. So it can easily work either as a laptop or tablet.
There are also reports saying that in terms of processor, the Surface Book 2 will be several notches better than the Apple MacBook Pro since the latter shall only have Intel’s seventh generation processors – the Intel Core i5 and the Intel Core i7.
The Surface Book 2, on the other hand, will be using the Intel Kaby Lake processor which is being developed using 14-namometer advance chipset technology.
As such, it is expected that the ultimate laptop shall really have something under the hood compared to its rumored main competitor in the market.
While there is still no official specifications about the device coming from Microsoft, much of the speculations on its specs are based on possible upgrades from what can be found under the hood of the Surface Book.
