Microsoft Surface Book 2 Needs to Address the Locking Mechanism Between the Keyboard and the Screen of its Predecessor to Make it the Ultimate Laptop, Critics Note!

When Microsoft released the Surface Book in October last year, the Redmondian company hyped it as the ultimate laptop.

It had a great design and really powerful especially coming from what is under the hood. Its biggest flaw, however, is the dynamic fulcrum hinge that connects the keyboard with the screen which is often referred to as the ‘muscle wire.’

Apart from requiring electricity to work, users also have to press and hold down the key until the hinge lets go of the tablet. And because the unlocking system is based on a software, it cannot be done when the device is turned off, notes the Vine Report.

There is also a gap that’s formed even when the laptop is closed which looks pretty awkward to most users.

Latest reports have it that Microsoft is planning to launch the Surface Book 2 soon since its predecessor will mark its full year market cycle next month.

Critics believe that if Microsoft really intends to make the Surface Book line the ultimate laptop, it has to address the locking mechanism between the keyboard and the screen in the original model and adapt the improvement on the Surface Book 2.

They believe that the Microsoft Surface Book 2 needs a functional hinge that allows the keyboard to be detached from the screen whether the device is turn on or off.

A tease but not of Surface Book 2

The rumors about the imminent release of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 started heating up when the American tech company posted an image recently on the Surface brand’s Instagram account which led to speculations that the successor of the Surface Book may be arriving soon.

The picture was cropped to show only the keys and keyboard cover of a gadget while seemingly highlighting the hinge of the device. It also came with a caption of ‘your key to success.’

Fans got excited with the tease believing that the next iteration of the Surface Book is coming out soon. The excitement further heightened when Windows Central mentioned that it is a screen capture of an internal company video that showcases the different ideas the company has for its upcoming products.

But one Windows blogger quashed the notions on the tease by saying that the photo is actually a promo image for the original Surface Book.

He also said that the Surface team is one of the most secret teams at Microsoft. Except for the company VPs, no one knows what they do, so users should not expect any leaks from them. He also added that people should never trust a Msfties when they say something about the Surface because they brag a lot and lie. He explained that 99.9% of them also receive news at the same time like ordinary users.

As far as the release date of the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is concerned, the speculations seem to be consistent that it would not be happening next month but most likely next year.

Great power under the hood

The rumors are also quite consistent in saying that the Microsoft Surface Book 2, just like the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 5, shall be powered by Intel’s Kaby Lake processor, which uses 14-nanometer technologies.

As such, it is expected that the ultimate laptop shall really have something under the hood compared to its competitors in the market.

While there is still no official specifications about the device coming from Microsoft, much of the speculations on its specs are based on possible upgrades from what can be found under the hood of the Surface Book.
