Son of Michael Schumacher, Mick, is progressing towards Formula One as he signed a deal to participate in the Formula Three European Championship which will take place next season. The 17-year old signed a deal with the Prema Powerteam. He will be following in the footsteps of Lance Stroll, a Williams’ F1 rookie. Max Verstappen is F1’s youngest race winner and a Red Bull star.
Back in 2014, he was an F3 driver beside Esteban Ocon. He will be racing for Force India during the premier class in 2017. Schumacher previously took part in ADAC Formula 4 along with the F4 Championship of Italy with Prema. The teenager also believes that this move will help him on his way to Formula One.
In F1, his father dominated for more than a decade with Ferrari and Benetton. He won 91 races and seven world titles. In a statement, he said that he thinks F3 is the best step that he can make, and he is completely pumped for the next year.
He mentioned that he is quite happy in staying with Prema since it is a professional team and he will be able to gain a lot of knowledge. According to him, the next season will be quite challenging but the tests conducted in the past few weeks, have proved that F3 car is immensely fun to drive. He simply can’t wait for 2017 to start.
Meanwhile, after the first photo of Michael on his bed was sold to the media for 1.2 million pounds, Schumacher’s family was highly enraged. It was a clear and defiant breach of security and news blackout which the family wanted to preserve. In the leaked photo, Schumacher was seen lying on his bed in a rather ghoulish state.
The photographer and seller are yet to be identified for what they offered to the media. Everyone was shocked since people are aware that the Schumacher family wishes to keep everything a secret. Bunte has already been sued by the family.
It is a German magazine that claimed back in 2015 that Schumacher has been able to walk some steps after waking up from the coma and progressing with his recovery. Felix Damm, the lawyer, said that the report was false and said that Michael couldn’t stand even if he is assisted.
Sabine Kehm, his manager, has reported that his condition will not be made public or discussed with the media. He added that they know it is difficult for the people and the media to deal with but they are in perfect agreement with his attitude and can simply say thanks for understanding the situation.
After a ski accident which took place in the French Alps three years ago, Schumacher sustained heavy brain damage. He went into a coma, woke up and was taken to his home in Switzerland, back in 2014.
He has been recovering ever since then. It was initially planned that the person for the photo leak will face charges but now it seems he won’t be facing any liability. The sources in media who received the photo, decided not to name the source.
According to the police, the photographer is an acquaintance of Michael Schumacher. British daily, The Sun, reported that the prosecutor’s office located in Offenburg said that an unknown person was responsible for the snaps and he was planning to sell them for huge amounts of money.
