Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Release to Be Accompanied by Figurines, Game Possibly Coming June 22!

News about the upcoming new “Metal Gear Solid V” have been more mixed than one would expect for a game with its popularity – but it seems that the developers behind it aren’t handling every aspect of the production process flawlessly, and there are still some issues to be ironed out. Still, it seems that things are mostly going according to plan, and the game is coming close to a release date. How close exactly is not yet known – but rumors indicate that the new title might be released as early as June 22.

This is not officially confirmed by the studio so far, but is speculation based on a shirt worn by Hideo Kojima (of all things), which had the numbers printed on it in Swedish. Granted, this would be a pretty major stretch, but it wouldn’t be the first time Kojima has done something unusual to mess with his fans, and it’s actually one of the things many people know and love him for.

Meanwhile, studio Square Enix have unveiled the official set of figurines that will be released along with the game, and will feature several characters from the title, including Snake, Skullface, and Quiet. It’s not known how much the figurines would cost, and when exactly they will be released – but Square Enix have confirmed that they’re scheduled for 2015.

It might turn out that these are exclusive bonuses for limited editions of the game, or they may be available to anyone – but they seem to be of pretty high quality, so it’s expected that they would not be cheap. It’s also not known if the figurines will come out at the exact same time as the game itself. They might be used as additional marketing if they’re released before the game, or on the other hand, Square Enix could do the opposite and hype up the game’s fans about the figurines at some point after the game’s release.

Metal Gear Solid 5

If the game does come out in June 2015, then there should be official news coming from the studio soon, although Square Enix are also known for delaying the release of important information about their games when they calculate that it could benefit them in terms of hype, so it’s not clear when the studio is planning to give more details about the upcoming “Metal Gear Solid V”. There have been rumors that Kojima is planning to release some extra information as a special Christmas gift for his fans, but given the source of those statements, it’s hard to say if they have any merit. In any case, it will be known in two weeks.
