Game publisher Piggyback Interactive Limited is releasing a strategy guide for “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” when the video game is released on September 1 for the next generation gaming consoles and on September 15 for the PC.
The strategy guide will be available in two versions, a collectible hardcover edition, and a paperback edition. These two versions will be released across Europe and North and South America, in English, German, Italian, French, and Spanish languages.
According to Gamasutra, the hardcover edition is a limited edition and will include additional content such as an art gallery and an exclusive lithograph by Yoji Shinkawa. The official strategy guide paperback edition will be available for purchase at the price of $24.99 and the hardcover collectible edition will be available for $34.99.
In addition, recent reports suggest that Konami has made a change to the official box of “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.” According to Cinema Blend, the box will not mention Kojima Productions or Director Hideo Kojima. The logo of Kojima Productions has been removed and will no longer appear on the cover of the game.
The removal of both the logo and the Kojima name is a result of a power struggle between Kojima Productions and game developer Konami. The alleged confrontation has reportedly resulted in the cancelation of “Silent Hills” horror video games.
“Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” will be released on September 1, for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms, as well as PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. The Steam version of the game will be launched on September 15. Apart from this, the game’s online mode will also be launch on the same date.
The collectors edition will be available for purchase at the price of $99, and it will include a collectible Steel Book, a behind-the-scenes documentary, a half-scale replica of Snake’s bionic arm and a collection of trailers on Blu-Ray. It will also include a map and DLC items, such as weapons and costumes for the leading character. Those who purchase Day 1 Edition for the price of $59.99 will have a reduced selection of DLC and will be treated instead with the physical map.
The “Metal Gear Solid” video game series have sold 41.2 million copies and the last edition followed “Grand Theft Auto IV” as the second-fastest selling video game in history.
The game follows the main character Snake in his quest for revenge. The gameplay is set in Africa and Afghanistan during the Soviet War. It falls under the category of open world action-adventure stealth video game.
The first game in the series was “Metal Gear,” which debuted in 1987, in Japan and Europe. The sequel, “Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake” was released in 1990, in Japan. After developing the second sequel, Kojima directed the third video game, “Metal Gear Solid,” which was released in 1998 for the PlayStation.
The third edition of the game resulted in various sequels as it was remade for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo Game Cube, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS and other platforms.
The series was continued with “Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots” in 2008, for PlayStation 3. The game also offered an online multiplayer version and also had a number of sequels including “Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker” and “Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance,” which was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013.
“Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes” was released in 2014 and it is the latest in the video game series. “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” is a sequel to “Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes” and it will cover the same tactics of “Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.”
“Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” will offer a primarily unchanged gameplay. The player will have to move around open world environments while avoiding enemy lines and staying down low. The equipment inventory for the main character will consist of maps, rifles, explosives, pistols, and binoculars.
