Game developer Konami has released a gameplay demo of the open-world action adventure stealth video game “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 held last month.
Konami also announced during the event that “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” will be hitting the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on September 1. The PC version of the video game will come a few weeks later after the release on the next generation gaming consoles.
Less than three months before the official release of the game, Konami is unveiling a new gameplay demo this week to further drumbeat gamer interest on the widely-anticipated video game.
However, unlike the gameplay trailer that was shown at E3 2015, the new demo will have a different method of approach, which according to game creator Hideo Kojima, will rely on freedom of infiltration.
Kojima has been very busy tweeting about the new gameplay demo hinting that it will come out at the time of the celebration of the Tanabata in Japan. Tanabata is the festival of stars in the Land of the Rising Sun and it is normally celebrated on July 7th, notes Dual Shockers.
The creator disclosed that he used the technology and concept of open world for a free infiltration game like “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.” He said that gamers will surely enjoy the freedom of operation, sneaking or stealth, and escape on the new gameplay demo, adding that the time and route of infiltration, as well as the strategy, are critically important factors.
Kojima detailed that the gameplay demo showcased during E3 2015 highlighted free roam and had the player entering the mission from the northwest. He then sneaks into the hot zone on the D-Walker and escaped by helicopter.
The creator said that the new gameplay video will have the player taking another route for the same mission. Kojima said that the gamer will attack it from another direction because the attack method is free and that “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” is not a linear game.
Limited edition
Meanwhile, the Gaming Bolt pointed out the things in store for gamers of “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” if they go with purchasing the video game’s limited edition.
The outlet disclosed that the special edition PlayStation 4 and the Limited Edition version of the game will come with a new video that shall detail what the artwork Steelbook is that is also part of the package.
Accordingly, the video will provide more information about the character named Quiet, a scout and sniper whose special abilities allow her to stalk her prey without being seen or heard. Thus, she is actually true to her name because she never speaks, nor even communicates through writing. She also forms a bond with Snake, the game’s protagonist.
Tough challenge
When game developer Konami said that players will have less margin for error in “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain,” it was actually referring to the enhanced level of challenge or difficulty that gamers will experience with the game.
The 40-minute gameplay trailer of the video game at E3 2015 may have shown the enhanced degree of difficulty, which according to Konami is what makes the game absurdly attractive and exciting.
But recent releases of two videos from gamer and YouTuber Yongyea somehow gave a clearer picture of what players should expect with “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” when the video game hits the gaming consoles a couple of months from now.
Based on the two videos, Yongyea was able to shed light on the enemies in the game including the long-rumored Skulls. Apparently, when a Skull spots a gamer, there will be a reflex mode-like scene that shall feature flashing images before the Skulls attack the player.
