In episode 19 of the current eleventh season of “Grey’s Anatomy”, it was all about love, and the main focus was on the relationship between Meredith and Derek which was showing signs of improving. At the same time, Amelia and Owen have run into some difficulties with their own relationship, and things aren’t looking very good on that front.
Derek and Meredith are making it painfully obvious that they’re deeply in love with each other, as they can hardly even stay away from the other person, and this has seemingly started to draw the attention of others. At one point, we can see Amelia entering the room without a change in clothes, followed shortly by Owen who wants to leave as soon as he realizes that Meredith and Derek are also present.
However, Derek seems to handle that situation delicately, and immediately offers breakfast to the couple, helping break the ice and making things easier for all involved. And as much as they love each other right now, Derek and Meredith have to spend some time apart due to Derek’s job which requires him to move to DC to submit his resignation. In the end, he gives a goodbye kiss to Meredith and assures her that he’ll be back in no time and everything will be back to normal.
Meredith is apparently quite curious about what’s going on between Amelia and Owen and tries to dig into that a little bit, but this quickly leads to Amelia getting defensive and trying frantically to avoid the questions. However, Meredith points out that the only reason she’s asking is that she’s made a promise to look after Owen to Christina, and she wants to make sure that nothing bad will happen to him. In the end, she just gives a reminder to Amelia to be careful, and leaves her to her own thoughts.
It’s definitely obvious through the rest of the episode that the question had an impact on Amelia though, as her mood was terrible for the rest of the day, and she even lashes out at Stephanie at one point completely unprovoked. It looks like things are definitely getting complicated between Amelia and Owen, and this is now spilling into their relations with other characters. This could definitely spell some interesting things for the show’s future, but hopefully the writers won’t put their characters under too much pressure. After all, even though drama plays a major role in this show’s plot development, sometimes it can go too far and looking at various discussion boards, fans seem fond of the idea of getting a break from that occasionally.
