The first official photo of Melissa Benoist donning the sexy Supergirl costume has been unveiled by the 26-year-old actress herself in her Twitter account on March 6 and fans were not only impressed with the suit, they also shared that the star really look sexy on the iconic superhero suit.
“Supergirl” the TV series will hit CBS towards the latter part of this year but the excitement it has been brewing as of late, gives more than enough reasons for fans to be excited about.
Benoist, who has made a name for herself as part of the cast of the musical series “Glee,” also added a caption on the image that she posted on Twitter, notes Fashion N Style.
She said that she is still in disbelief over her good fortune to play such a remarkable character on national TV. Melissa also added that she also can’t believe that she is wearing the House of El coat of arms.”
Embracing the past
Colleen Atwood, three-time Oscar winner for costume design, has designed the Supergirl costume. He also designed the costume for “The Flash.”
Atwood reveals that when she was still designing the “Supergirl” costume, she wanted to embrace the past and iconic role of the female superhero. The costume designer added that the idea of having a good suit for the role is to thrust her into becoming as street-style action hero.
“Supergirl” the TV series shall revolve around the life of Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin. Just like the Man of Steel, Kara escaped Krypton even before Superman was sent out of their planet.
Upon arriving on earth, she was taken in by a foster family who taught her how to channel her special powers. However, an unexpected disaster forces Kara to use her powers in public. She was inspired by the people’s positive reaction to her heroic deed so she began to embrace her extraordinary capabilities and become Supergirl.
Guessing game
Last week, reports that Dean Cain and Helen Slater have been casted in the upcoming TV series but their respective roles remain a mystery.
Dean Cain once played the role of Superman and Clark Kent in the TV series “Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” in the 90s opposite Teri Hatcher. Helen Slater, on the other hand, was the actress who played Supergirl in the 1984 “Supergirl” film.
Apparently, the two stars will only appear on the first episode of the TV series only and that might be to pave the ground for the coming of “Supergirl.”
Fans on social media have been guessing the mystery roles that Dean Cain and Helen Slater will play on the “Supergirl” TV series. Some are actually discussing on Twitter possible details or scenarios too.
As early as September 2014, CBS has already obtained the rights for “Supergirl” TV series from DC Comics. Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler are producing the show, in collaboration with Warner Bros TV.
Berlanti is actually running the two other DC Comics adaptations “Arrow” and “The Flash” and both are doing well, ratings-wise.
