Melanie Griffith has not been forgotten as an actress by any means, but when she stepped onto the red carpet as her daughters guest to the Oscars, things got a little strange. The media has had a field day with the awkward moment and most fans are thinking it was not that big of deal. Melanie Griffith’s daughter is the star of “Fifty Shades of Grey” which was a box office blast a few weekends ago and that is the reason she was at the Oscars.
The movie, which apparently does not do justice to those that read the books, is an erotic drama and Dakota Johnson is the main actress, next to Jamie Dornan. During their walk on the red carpet, Melanie Griffith and her daughter we going to be asked about the steamy, erotic movie that she is in. The cameras are rolling non-stop on the red carpet and the lights are causing dizziness as the two tried to avoid the questions.
Melanie Griffith was asked if she would go see the movie and she claimed that she did not think that she could, that it would “be strange”, but that was not exactly what Dakota wanted to hear. Seeing the annoyance in her face, Dakota shot back saying that she did not think it would be strange and that she thought her mom was okay to go see it. Melanie Griffith quickly replied that she knew her daughter was an good actress and that she did not have to see the new movie to know that.
The awkward moment climaxed at that point when Dakota answered “well, alright, you don’t have to see it”, with a clearly annoyed look on her face. The cameras caught the entire thing and it was not more than two minutes before the internet was buzzing about the weird interaction between the two. Just like with most huge events, the Oscars is covered via Twitter quite extensively.
With that being said, the social media network was not quiet during this awkward interaction and it really made Melanie Griffith look bad, but who could blame her? The mother of a daughter that is borderline assaulted in a steamy, romantic, erotic thriller of a movie, it was luck that she even talks about the movie. The odds are very good that Melanie Griffith will see the movie, but that is what actresses and actors do for each other, but maybe she just did not want to admit it for the camera.
