If there is one person who really feels heartbroken that the American super-natural action thriller TV series “Constantine” was not renewed for Season 2, it is definitely show creator Daniel Cerone.
Despite his subsequent attempts to liaise and negotiate with other networks to rescue the show from cancellation after NBC decided in dropping it after just one season, Cerone was not able to convince anybody of the potentials of the show as a network money-maker.
His last negotiation was with The CW network and to even sweeten the deal, Cerone even promised to bring in veteran actor William Shatner to “Constantine” but his efforts eventually proved futile.
Next to Cerone however, the show’s star Matt Ryan, who plays John Constantine, is also another person who feels very disappointed for the end of the show.
In his recent post on Twitter, Ryan said that the end of “Constantine” was indeed a sad news for the show, for the fans, and also for the cast including himself, notes the Den of Geek.
He expressed his gratitude to the loyal fans of “Constantine” known as the hellblazers whom he considers as the best there is. He also thanked them for not giving up on “Constantine” until the very end. He also said that he is quite disappointed that he is no longer able to continue the journey and that he already misses playing John already.
End of the line
After NBC officially cancelled Season 2 of “Constantine” in April, Cerone has given himself until the first two weeks of June to rescue the show from cancellation as the contracts of the stars are only good until that period.
However, with no clear future for the show in sight, the series has officially released the cast from their contracts and Cerone put the nail in the coffin by posting in social media that the show is over.
Even when NBC decided to cancel the show in April, Cerone still haggled with the network for a couple of weeks. When he got a negative answer from the NBC network bosses, he decided to pitch the saving of “Constantine” to sister networks SyFy and The CW.
SyFy denied ever dealing or expressing interest on the show so Cerone was left with a last ditch effort to save “Constantine” with The CW.
The bad news
In tweet last week, Cerone posted a mouthful in delivering the bad news to anxiously waiting show fans. He confirmed that the cast and the writers of “Constantine” are being released from their contracts as the efforts of the studio to find a new home for the show proved futile.
Cerone also acknowledged the writers and staff that breathed life into the characters in “Constantine,” citing also how the writers were the true people behind any TV series.
He also said that he is just happy that the writers of “Constantine” are leaving the dream behind through the show’s passionate fans who believe in what they tried to do. Although he expressed sadness for leaving the dedicated and active fan base on the table, he said that the good news is that “Constantine” will live on for years in many forms.

I really hope that they will renewed the show, as I loved it!!
