If the game really is coming in March next year though, we expect the official announcement to come around the holiday season. It wouldn’t make much sense for EA to start hyping up their fans as late as January/February, and on the other hand the holidays are the perfect time for serious marketing efforts like this one.
The situation is confusing as a whole, but as we said above, most fans seem perfectly happy with the idea of waiting longer for this game, as long as they get a properly polished final result.
This is probably EA’s last chance to recover the “Mass Effect” franchise and get people to remember why they fell in love with it in the first place.
If this release fails, we suspect that the franchise as a whole will be put under, and it should go without saying that this would be a huge disappointment for many. It would also be a very bad development for EA though, as the company used to have a reputation for doing just that – ruining franchises and shutting them down.
They’ve worked hard to put this behind them, and while they’ve made a lot of progress, one failed release like this one could set them back significantly and remind people who EA were in the first place. Hopefully, that’s not what we’re about to see though, and we certainly have no reason to expect that right now.
