“Mass Effect Andromeda” is still quite unknown to fans of the franchise and nobody knows what to expect from the new game. At least that’s the situation on the official front – on the other hand, there is plenty of “information” in the form of rumors, but of course figuring out which of them can be trusted and which should be ignored is a different story and it’s often not that easy.
This game in particular has been the subject of a lot of speculation since fans learned of its development, and right now there are various claims going around about it, most of them most likely being fake. Recently we saw a set of details that was claimed to be an actual leak from the game and this quickly got many fans very excited, with various discussions about the video on messaging boards and lots of arguments about whether or not the game looks good.
But in the end, there is strong suspicion that the leak was fake and not related to the game itself, and various people in the community are urging others to not play into the rumors and only follow verified information. Of course, it should probably go without saying that this is as far from the case as possible and people are most definitely not going to let this slide that easily, especially after everything they saw/heard in that video.
The game could feature two separate NPCs that follow the player, continuing the trend from the previous entries in the franchise. Exploration will probably pay a greater role in the new title’s gameplay, and this includes greater mobility for not just the player but also their companions. There are rumors that combat is also going to be made more mobile and flexible, but we have no idea if that would actually work well with the core gameplay of “Mass Effect”, so it’s probably a rumor that should be taken with a grain of salt.
That is to say, this whole thing should be taken with a grain of salt, but while some details from it at least sound plausible, others are definitely questionable and shouldn’t be taken so seriously by fans. There are also some rumors about the locations that the player will get to visit in the new game, but once again, it’s hard to tell where the truth lies right now.
One thing is certain – BioWare are likely working hard to avoid messing up this game like they did with “Mass Effect 3”. While the last game was mostly good and was received well overall, people were quite critical of its ending and it came as a disappointment to many fans of the franchise. It got to the point where the studio had to release a patch just to change the way the game ended, something which was more or less a precedent in the industry, at least for a game of this scale. In the end things worked out but not without a lot of drama.
Other than the above, the leak also claimed that the game will see a significant improvement in its graphics in certain areas, such as the faces of characters. This is something that could play into the way the player interacts with other characters too, as it could imply a much stronger emphasis on dialogue and character relationships in the new game. Which would be interesting as this was already a major focus in the previous games.
