‘Mass Effect 4’ Will Have Four Times the Size of the Galaxy Map of Mass Effect 3

When reports started coming out that the upcoming action role-playing third-person shooter video game “Mass Effect 4” will be massive, gamers actually have no idea how big it would be.

Officially called as “Mass Effect: Andromeda,” the fourth iteration to the video game franchise will actually have four times the size of the galaxy map of “Mass Effect 3” according to game developer BioWare, notes the Vine Report.

The game developer also disclosed that “Mass Effect: Andromeda” shall also feature new protagonists that may have something to do with the N7.

There will also be two customizable outfits for males and females which shall be unveiled once players get to explore the titular universe located at the Helius Cluster, which was also part of the galaxy map of “Mass Effect 3.”

Multiple missions in multiplayer mode

“Mass Effect 4” will also feature a multiplayer mode, but the old characters will be gone. The development team from BioWare has confirmed that they have created new maps and characters at the request of gamers, notes Neurogadget.

The multiplayer mode of “Mass Effect 4” will be called Horde Mode where the player and three other friends will need to fight against waves of enemy troops in various battlefields.

The players will also need to disable bombs near a colony base, assassinate targets, among several other missions.

By completing multiplayer missions, players will gain XP and earn new multiplayer scientific weapons, weapons mod, new equipment and more. The player will also have the opportunity to earn APEX funds, the term used by BioWare for in-game currency in “Mass Effect” games, which they could use to purchase items in the Single Player mode.

Commander Shepard from “Mass Effect 3” shall reportedly no longer be around on “Mass Effect: Andromeda” and that players shall be able to customize the main character of the game.

The same team said that they will listen to “Mass Effect” fans and gamers in order to make sure that they cover a good amount of requests from them for as long as they see that it would contribute to the overall improvement of the game and the gameplay.

Reinforcing the development team

Indicative of how massive the gameplay map of “Mass Effect 4” would be, an insider carrying the name of shinobi602 in the public forum NeoGAF, revealed that the number of the members of the development team of BioWare working on the game has quadrupled from its original size of 50 following the release of “Dragon Age: Inquisition” last year.

Although the previous characters will not be returning to “Mass Effect: Andromeda,” the six-wheel vehicle called Mako, which was first seen in “Mass Effect,” the first game in the series, shall return.

But this time the vehicle would be faster and features more improvements that cater to the player’s needs in their adventures and missions at the new location.

Game producer Mike Gamble of BioWare, in a recent interview, said that the vehicle would be a really agile Mako which would be different to the one that players have seen before. The vehicle shall no longer have a cannon, but it can hover and jump. Gamble refused to divulge additional details lest he gives too much spoiler about the game.

As for the release date of “Mass Effect 4,” reports have it that the game will be released on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC next year.

Initial reports have it that the game would be released early next year but based on the latest speculations, “Mass Effect: Andromeda” could possibly come out in December next year.

  1. One of my favorite things about Mass effect was that each game could be completed in about 40 hours. I, as well as a lot of adult gamers, don’t want massive 200 hour games. We just don’t have that much extra time. Please, Bioware, don’t go overboard trying to make everything bigger! I can assure you bigger is not always better.

    1. Agreed. I hope they don’t make it over bloated like DAI is. I cannot make myself play it again as it takes so long and so many side quests!
