“Married at First Sight” was one of the reality shows with a more unusual concept, and while its American version started off somewhat successfully with its first season, the second one didn’t end up quite that well, as unlike the first season which resulted in some long-term relationships, all couples involved in season 2 eventually separated. Because of this, many have been wondering if they should expect to see a third season of the show, and even though casting has reportedly already concluded, we don’t know what the situation is like.
On one hand, the show’s premise definitely makes it possible that we could see another season, even with the lack of success between the couples in the last one. On the other, some fans seem skeptical that they would want to go through another round of episodes given the way the previous ones turned out, and considering that the split in the fan base appears to be quite large, this can lead to some problems for the producers if they decided to bring season 3 to the screen.
A lack of viewers would obviously not reflect well on the show’s success, and if negative opinions in the community keep growing, it might be wiser for the producers to just give up on the idea. Of course, there’s another point of view – that all this controversy could actually reflect positively on the show and end up giving it more exposure and popularity if the producers decided to go ahead with season 3. It’s also hard to tell exactly how many fans would be against a third season, and they could be in a minority.
After all, even though the phrase “there’s no bad publicity” doesn’t always turn out to be true, it’s definitely valid in many situations and we can see how the producers of “Married at First Sight” could potentially benefit from the various headlines that their show got.
There have been some rumors that the show might return with some changes in its premise, particularly regarding the rule to marry the couples. According to some experts, this has been a contributing factor to the negative developments in the story, as marriage tends to paint the situation in a different light and leads to more conflicts in the long term if the two persons aren’t compatible. Which was clearly true judging by the way season 2 turned out, especially in the months after the episodes ended.
The show’s producers reportedly do take a lot of care to ensure that they’re selecting the right candidates for their seasons, from what we’ve heard, but in the end there’s no perfect formula for making sure that two people would work well together as a couple, and even though thousands of applicants are sifted through just to find the few final couples, this doesn’t change the fact that a lot of the show is left to chance in the end.
It’s true that there are some pretty capable people running the production and assisting with the choice of participants, but they might want to change their methods to some extent for season 3, if that is planned at all. Some fans of the show have been claiming that they still see a lot of potential in it, but they also realize that there is some need for a change in the approach to the overall structure. If the producers of the show stick to the same formula, they might see the same results in the end as well, and this would obviously not be of great benefit to fans who want to see some more exciting developments.
