Actor Mark Wahlberg has been on the last “Transformers” movie and he said he is expecting franchise director Michael Bay to step in again for “Transformers 5.” The two has already worked together in the film, “Pain & Gain,” where Wahlberg played a bodybuilder in Florida who got caught up in an extortion ring and kidnapping scheme that had gone terribly wrong.
Bay and Wahlberg reportedly have very good working chemistry. Bay previously said that he would be passing on the baton on directing “Transformers 5” but it would be something else to come from Wahlberg that he expects him to come back again. Bay reportedly had similar changes of heart before, especially when he was juggling in between “Transformers” and his other passion projects.
In a recent interview with Collider, Wahlberg said he believes Bay will ultimately direct the movie. Currently, he still does not have an update on the status of “Transformers 5” but he said that Akiva Goldsman and the other writers are already starting on coming up with the story.
Wahlberg is presently filming “Deepwater” in New Orleaans while Bay is still shooting a Benghazi drama in Malta. Wahlberg said they would get together once Bay comes back. Bay is still busy on this new drama called “13 Hours.” Notably, Bay, if he is not going to be the director, is still onboard the franchise as he is going to be the executive producer of “Transformers 5.” Nonetheless, the writing team is reportedly getting ready for him when he comes back.
Amazing plot for next film
Moreover, reports suggest that the fifth installment of the film will be about Optimus Prime’s journey in the outer space. To create an amazing plot for the new science-fiction film, Oscar-winning writer-producer Akiva Goldsman will work with a highly talented team including Robert Kirkman of “The Walking Dead,” Zak Penn from “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “The Incredible Hulk,” Jeff Pinker from “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and the writing duo of “Iron Man” Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
The chief executive of Hasbro, Brian Goldner, hinted on the possibility of creating a spinoff movie in the future. What’s even more interesting is they could form it around Bumblebee’s perspective. In an interview with TFW2005, Goldner said that as they move forward to the future storylines of the franchise, they could imagine several movies that would not be directly related to the current lineage of the story from “Transformers 4.” They could also focus on a certain character like that of the yellow Camaro, Bumblebee, since he is very popular with the kids all over the world.
Additionally, he said that they are currently in the process of building the brand equity around the comic book business and their TV business. They are also exploring on the digital gaming business together with the film series of “Transformers.”
