Marco Polo Season 3 Likely to be Canceled, Benedict Wong Joins Another Series

The recent news about Marco Polo Season 3 isn’t a good one. There are claims that Netflix has canceled the series, and actor Benedict Wong is moving on to a new series, The Crown.

While some believe that these rumors have an iota of truth in them, there aren’t any official confirmation from Netflix about Marco Polo Season 3.

Viewers are hoping that Benedict Wong comes back as Kublai Khan in Marco Polo Season 3. There wasn’t any clear indication about the fate of Kublai Khan in Marco Polo Season 2 and hence fans are hopeful that he will be back for Season 3.

Fans know that Kublai Khan has many journeys to endure in the series. Before the news of Wong abandoning the series started circulating, fans were expecting Kublai Khan’s journey along with those that seek power to dominate the upcoming episodes of Marco Polo Season 3.

Netflix still hasn’t renewed Marco Polo for the third season and given that they never disclose the rating for the shows, there isn’t any indication that the decision might be because of low TRP.

Christian Post reported that Marco Polo Season 3 is set to get canceled because of the departure of Benedict Wong. The network knows that the fans wouldn’t accept a new actor in the role of Kublai Khan, and hence they decided to cancel the show.

Benedict Wong has a tight schedule since he has signed up for The Crown and is also set to appear in the Marvel’s Doctor Strange. With two different projects in his kitty, Wong might have a tight schedule, and this prevented him from continuing with the role of Kublai Khan in Marco Polo Season 3.

Season 2 of Marco Polo showed Kublai Khan charge into the enemy camp where he entered a trap. The season ended with a cliffhanger, and this provided Wong with the perfect opportunity to bid adieu to the series.

Fans are a little confused about what to expect from Marco Polo Season 3 since creator John Fusco hinted on Twitter that the viewers might not have seen the last of Kublai Khan. He is a man of vision, and he will see a way out of the situation.

There is an air of confusion over Season 3 of Marco Polo. While there are numerous speculations, none have been denied or confirmed by either the cast, crew or the network.

iTech Post reported that the main reason for Marco Polo Season 3’s cancellation would be the budget. The show is one of the most expensive on Netflix, and with the rating not being as expected, the producers might have decided to cancel the new season.

The high budget, the schedules of the lead actors and the low TRP might all be responsible for Marco Polo Season 3 not becoming a reality. Creator John Fusco has still not confirmed the cancellation and neither has he denied it.

Marco Polo Season 3

Talking about his decision to work on the series’ storyline, Fusco said that Marco Polo has been misrepresented and never got his dues. The mythology of Marco Polo has been buried deep for a long time and is way less exciting than the accounts made public.

Nonetheless, he has always been obsessed with Marco Polo’s story and hence decided to work on the current series.

Fusco is sure that he will get a green signal for Marco Polo Season 3. The series is different from the other shows on Netflix and has always been quite popular with the viewers.
