Manny Pacquiao Reneges on Promise Before Getting Elected as Philippine Senator by Coming Out of Boxing Retirement!

On July 15, or just one day after Pacquiao announced that he is coming out of boxing retirement, Thurman tweeted that if everyone else does not want to fight the Filipino boxing icon, he is willing to dance with the Pacman. He also told Pacquiao that they could give the fans a real prizefight.

Thurman has been saying that he wants to face the biggest and best names in the division. He has been looking to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. back then but Money is officially retired so he let go of that dream.

He also called for the fight with Garcia but Garcia is set to return to the sport in September this year.

Getting a fight with Pacquiao would indeed be the biggest fight for Thurman’s career but there would be a lot of issues to be settled. Thurman is being managed by Al Haymon and fights under the PBC banner while Pacquiao is promoted by Top Rank and fights on HBO. But just like the Pacquiao and Mayweather fight in 2015, it could be worked out.

Terence Crawford has yet to say something about his intention on a possible Pacquiao fight. Thus far, the only possible prize fight that the 38-year-old Pacquiao could go to is with Thurman or Crawford, with Thurman being an easier pick for Arum than Crawford because he is the bigger draw between the two.

  1. It’s all about money. Obviously, Pacquiao doesn’t make too much money as a congressman. Even a highly corrupted politician in Philippine never makes as much money as a prime boxer in the US.
