Mad Men Season 7 Coming Close to an End, What’s Coming in the Next Episodes, And More!

The current seventh season of “Mad Men” is nearing its conclusion, with just four episodes remaining, and the show’s producers have been very active in their marketing efforts to ensure that the hype doesn’t die down. So far though, it seems like there’s a lot of potential for those next few episodes to show some truly spectacular developments, and the writers of “Mad Men” have proven that they know what they’re doing so far.

A large part of a recent promotional video released for the episode is focused on Roger Sterling, leading many fans to believe that the story over the next few episodes will be focused on him exactly. The show has been featuring quite well so far, but many fans have been asking for a plot line that explores certain aspects of his character in more depth, and it looks like we’re just about to get that soon enough.

Season 6 of the show showed Bob Benson joining the firm without even being hired officially, and he then went on to befriend Joan, subsequently using the help of his boyfriend Manolo to undermine the position of Pete Campbell. The character was then reintroduced last year, during the first half of season 7, when he was involved with an executive at GM. The executive contacted Bob during the middle of the night, calling from jail where he was being held for soliciting an undercover police officer.

Bob traded his bail for information that the executive was aware of a major job offer with Buick, which quickly scared him and prompted him to propose to Joan Harris, who refused his proposal and he moved to Detroit in order to take up the job with Buick (or at least that’s what we believe).

The last episode of the show made sure to remind fans of that development too, but we don’t know if this part of the plot will come back in future episodes or if the writers are looking to bury it for good at this point.

Some have been pointing out that the fact that Bob Benson is gay puts the character in a very important position, as he can be used to explain certain aspects of those times in more detail, something which no other character would be suitable for. Or at least, no character that has been shown as gay so far, but it’s probably safe to assume that we’ll see more of Bob Benson in some future episodes, as it would be disappointing to see the writers of the show choosing to ignore this aspect of its setting. So far, they’ve shown that they want to explore such social themes.
