Macaulay Culkin’s ‘Home Alone’ to Hit Theaters Again in November to Mark its 25th Year!

By next month, the Christmas comedy blockbuster “Home Alone” starring the then 10-year-old Macaulay Culkin as the eight-year-old Kevin McCallister, will officially mark its 25th year.

The movie eventually went down in history as one of the best live-action comedies of all time, notes Movieweb.

In order to celebrate the history and pay tribute to the success of the movie, Fathom Events and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release “Home Alone” again in select theaters in the US on November 8 and November 11.

This will give a number of American families, particularly those who were still kids back then and are now with their own family, to make a trip down memory lane while enjoying the movie with their kids, who will be seeing it for the first time in cinemas.

While it is possible that most American families have seen the movie in the video, the full-length cinema feature of “Home Alone” will include a live special introduction that will be exclusive to cinema audiences.

Although both Fathom Events and Twentieth Century Fox have yet to make a confirmation about details of the introduction segment, it is most likely that they will usher in the stars who were featured in the movie 25 years ago and would likely be led by Macaulay Culkin, who is now a 35-year-old musician for the rock band The Pizza Underground.

It is also expected that other stars will also be joining Macaulay Culkin on the live stage during the introduction and it may include Catherine O’Hara, John Heard, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern.

Accordingly, Fathom Events will make “Home Alone” available in 600 theaters nationwide through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network.

A prolific franchise

The “Home Alone” movie has evolved into becoming a prolific franchise, spawning four sequels and three video games.

John Rubey, CEO of Fathom Events, said that long-time fans and first-time viewers of “Home Alone” will be laughing together at their local cinema in November. He added that his company is proud to have partnered with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to give audiences the unique opportunity to re-experience a classic as it was meant to be seen.

Meanwhile, the “Home Alone: Anniversary Collection” will be available in stores everywhere beginning on October 6 featuring all five “Home Alone” films on DVD along with a beautiful 4K restoration on Blu-ray and Digital HD.

The sequels to “Home Alone” include “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” “Home Alone 3,” “Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House,” and “Home Alone 5: The Holiday Heist.” Macaulay Culkin only starred in the first two films.

A surprising music career

After retiring from acting at the age of 14 before deciding to return some years later, Macaulay found himself trying his hand at a least thought of music career with a band called The Pizza Underground, that parodies the songs played by The Velvet Underground but with pizza-themed lyrics.

Culkin and his group are not gifted singers so their four-person band are often being booed on and off stage, soaked in beer, and generally hated by fans of The Velvet Underground. But the former child actor was the one who actually formed the band back in 2012, fronted previously by Lou Reed. When Reed died the following year, Culkin and his band decided to carry on with their music career.

Some of their music includes “Take a Bite of the Wild Slice” which is a parody of The Velvet Underground’s “Take a Walk on the Wild Side,” and “All the Pizza Parties” which was a comical take on the song “All Tomorrow’s Parties.”

Macaulay Culkin

While Macaulay’s foray into music may not have been the biggest low point of his career, it definitely sticks out like a sore thumb as something which has not been given plenty of thought before acting on it.

Many people still can’t believe that the years really moved that fast, still remembering Macaulay as the eight-year-old Kevin McCallister from “Home Alone” shown in 1990, cites the Mirror of UK.
