Macaulay Culkin Quietly Makes Return to Acting via ‘The Jim Gaffigan Show’ TV Series!

This month marks the 25th year when the biggest movie blockbuster of 1990, “Home Alone” was shown to global theaters.

The movie starred then 10-year-old Macaulay Culkin playing as eight-year-old Kevin McCallister who was accidentally forgotten and left at home during his family’s wild and crazy vacation departure.

In order to mark the milestone in the movie’s history and celebrate its success, Fathom Events and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment re-released “Home Alone” in theaters in the US on November 8 and November 11.

Fathom Events made “Home Alone” available in 600 theaters nationwide through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network.

The movie gave a number of American families, particularly those who were still kids back then and are now with their own families, to make a trip down memory lane while enjoying the movie with their kids, who have seen it for the first time in cinemas.

A classic holiday comedy

“Home Alone” is actually a holiday comedy that skyrocketed Macaulay Culkin to fame with a big help from a fun script by John Hughes and kid-friendly director Chris Columbus.

It was also a movie that literally turned Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern into a couple of punching bags and become the butt of all jokes, as far as the viewers are concerned.

The movie has become a classic that many people actually watched it over and over again especially during the holiday season because it is a family comedy that holds up really well and it is really a chock full of classic lines and some pretty stellar slapstick comedy.

While it is possible that most American families have seen the movie in the video, the full-length cinema feature of “Home Alone” included a live special introduction that was exclusive to theater audiences.

The “Home Alone” movie has evolved into becoming a prolific franchise, spawning four sequels and three video games.

The former child actor returns to acting

Incidentally, Macaulay Culkin just turned 35 years old late in August. Some 25 years ago, he was the biggest child star of the 90s. He was a money-maker in the first two “Home Alone” movies. He also starred in the successful “My Girl,” cites Digital Spy.

However, his last three movies as a child actor – “Getting Even with Dad,” “The Pagemaster,” and “Richie Rich” – all bombed at the box-office, forcing him to retire from show business at the young age of 14.

He then had a turbulent adolescence and problematic early 20s as he was even arrested for drug possession in 2004. He also got married at a young age to Rachel Miner that also ended in divorce. He then dated Mila Kunis for nine years. He is now dating Jordan Lane Price and they have been a couple for more than two years already.

Macaulay Culkin then went on to have a music career as the frontman for The Pizza Underground that parodies the songs played by The Velvet Underground but with pizza-themed lyrics.

Culkin and his group are not gifted singers so their four-piece band are often being booed on and off stage, soaked in beer, and generally hated by fans of The Velvet Underground. But the former child actor was the one who actually formed the band back in 2012, fronted previously by Lou Reed. When Reed died the following year, Culkin and his band decided to carry on with their music career.

Some of their music includes “Take a Bite of the Wild Slice” which is a parody of The Velvet Underground’s “Take a Walk on the Wild Side,” and “All the Pizza Parties” which was a comical take on the song “All Tomorrow’s Parties.”
