Luke Hemmings and 5 Seconds of Summer Elated Over the Success of European Tour

Luke Hemmings and his Australian rock band, the 5 Seconds of Summer, are very delighted with the results of their European tour after completing a couple of shows in Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Dublin, Birmingham and Cardiff. With the tour’s initial success, Luke and his bandmate Ashton Irwin offered a special thank you message to the fans who supported them.

The two posted the short clip on their Twitter accounts. Both said they were just looking around the concert venues and they were surprised by the long queue of people waiting to watch the show. They also said this experience has been the best thing ever.

The band’s drummer (Ashton) and lead vocalist (Luke) were so happy they just ended their message with a simple, ‘Just, Wow!’

The band will have a couple more performance this June. They will have shows in London from June 12 to June 14. On June 18, they will be seen at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. Then, they would be heading back to their homeland Australia from June 20 to June 29.

Copyright issue

Meanwhile, the band has been under scrutiny over copyright issues after they were sued for copying a tally logo. 5 Seconds of Summer introduced the tally logo to represent all the bandmates—Luke, Ashton, Calum Hood and Michael Clifford; the slash should be the entire 5 Seconds of Summer.

The band said they wanted the tally logo to represent their punk rock theme. However, they immediately backed out after a street wear label called Undeafeated pulled a copyright lawsuit against the band.

Attorney Martin Schwimmer from The Trademark Blog said the copyright infringement case would be a big debacle in court if and only if there would be a confusion on the consumer’s end when they are purchasing for the product. So, even though 5 Seconds of Summer is a band while Undefeated is a label, there would still be a conflict since 5SOS are also selling tees and other wearables on their shop.

The band have accepted their defeat on the issue but the fans were not so happy about it. They even created the hashtag #WeWantTheTallyBack to support their cause.

Some of them pointed out that the 5SOS logo started in 2011. They also used the tally logo in 2012 until 2014. So when they saw the new punk rock skull logo with heart eyes and stars at the side, they were very disappointed. It is also surprising to know that Undefeated did not file any case against the band over the past few years that they have been using the logo.

Other fans pointed out the meaning of the logo. It is more than just a tally mark for them. It is a representation of the band.
