Netflix has already announced a few weeks after the Season 5 of the American Western crime drama TV series “Longmire” was streamed on the streaming service in September that the show would have its final run next year as its Season 6 is going to be its last.
While most fans of “Longmire” refuse to accept the reality that their favorite show is about to draw to a close, the producers and the cast of characters are happy that they could have one last season to give the show a fitting conclusion that it so deserves.
As far as lead actor Robert Taylor is concerned, he is just happy that Season 6 of “Longmire” will give his character Sheriff Walt Longmire the opportunity for his last and final run in catching the bad guys of Absaroka County in the state of Wyoming, reports Game & Guide.
It is also expected that Sheriff Walt will be joined by his Deputy Sheriff Vic Moretti, played by Katee Sackhoff, both in his crime-fighting activities and possibly in his life as his romantic partner.
According to the showrunner, Season 6 of “Longmire” is packed with action and excitement and of course, the romance between Walt and Vic.
Based on the book
“Longmire” has been adapted for television from Craig Johnson’s mystery novel of the same title. His book is a reflection of the mysteries, interactions, and relationships of the environment and the characters in the modern-day West.
Craig Johnson revealed that his portrayal of the modern day West catalogs the events he picked up from newspaper articles in the Wyoming and Montana areas.
The author has a rich source of story plots in his books for “Longmire” Season 6 to continue the show. However, the end will finally come for the series after six wonderful years on the small screen.
From Craig Johnson’s rich story source, “Longmire” could actually go beyond six seasons but Netflix has decided that six years would be enough for the show. It can be recalled that “Longmire” was aired on A&E during its first three seasons. Netflix rescued it from cancellation and aired its Seasons 4 and 5, as well as its upcoming and final sixth season.
A possible plotline and spinoff
Meanwhile, there are also speculations saying that Season 6 of “Longmire” might involve the Irish mob and Ferg’s girlfriend.
There are also rumors saying that a possible spinoff TV series might come out of “Longmire” and it would already star Vic Moretti, reports News Everyday.
However, all these are mere speculations and have not been confirmed by Netflix, the showrunner, and even the cast members so the information should all be taken with a fine grain of salt.
Incidentally, the Season 5 finale of “Longmire” left several cliffhangers so the rumors have caused panic to some fans of the TV series that they decided to initiate a move to make sure that Netflix would renew the show for Season 6.
They have decided to make the streaming service realize that there is a strong demand for “Longmire” that is why in social media, they have strongly lobbied for its renewal and used the hashtag #RenewLongmireNetflix.
Apparently, the rumors were not true as it turns out that Netflix is giving the show another season although no official announcement of the renewal has been made or when would the show air its sixth season.
The confirmation came from a source who claims to be already privy to the decision of Netflix that there would be a Season 6 of “Longmire.”
The downside to the confirmation of a sixth season for “Longmire” comes with the reality as well that Season 6 could be the last for the show.
